I work with someone who used to be at your new place YTF and he said it was a good place to work, so biggie grats I know it's been difficult waters for ya.
Thanks.

People keep coming up to me, and making a point to ask, "So, how do you like it so far?", because they're confident that I'm going to say how much I like it...and they're right.

Was hoping you'd come to Canterbury...

I knew that question was inevitable. I'd love to tell you guys, but if I did, then I couldn't make any posts that would reflect poorly upon my employer. For example, last night I went absolutely bananas, and trashed some poor guy who disagreed with me in 2-3 different threads at once. I called him Inspector Javert for his unbending clinging to the letter of the law (if you don't know who that is, just think of Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive), even mocked his posts by saying it was fun to read them in an unthinking "robot" voice.

Now if you thought of me as "that dealer from Casino X", that would be bad publicity for Casino X, even if I signed every post with, "The opinions expressed in this post are not necessarily those of Casino X."

As a general rule, nobody here that isn't a manager or above should be talking about where they work. Some people have chosen to reveal where they work. If you do this, I would study their policy on discussing work related issues in public.

I wish I had gotten this advise a long time ago. My boss knows who I am but I'm careful not to discuss anything that happens at work. I don't post to that casino thread on B&M and I ony pass along info that is already publically available.

Life would be simpler if I had known better though.

Oh and really glad to hear the good news from Q/Q and YTF.

Congrats on the jobs guys.

We are currently hiring dealers... unfortuneately they will have to be trained in all areas of the poker :S. Due to company policy involving hiring within before going outside.

I'm pretty sure I sat in with you guys at ceasars last time you all came down here. If you are who I think you are, that was one of the top 5 most fun sessions I've ever had at a live table. Any idea where you guys are thinking of playing this time around?

if i had to guess it'd be ceasars. but if the drink service isn't good, we'll find another home. are you a local?

btw, our mix was either 3/6 or 4/8 LHE, O8, omaha high and pinneapple. prolly don't see that mix except the 2 times a year we're in town. last time we played mostly at caesars and a dealer named Han played nearly every session with us after he got off work.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Next week's schedule, I'm on nights.

Oh well, I like nights better any way. More baseball to watch while in the box, no alarm clock needed (God, I hate alarm clocks, never understood how people could spend their whole lives battling one every day), no more up-and--down for the first 2-3 hours of my shift, mo money mo money mo money!

this this this this this.

I've got the schedule I like, 3pm or 4pm start times. However rumor has it there's some grumpy people with seniority about my start times (they want them.) I'd say it's even money right now whether I get to keep them or I get pushed back.

And more baseball is always good. Go Cards!

I too am starting a new job on Thursday.

After 3 1/2 years of Floor Sup/Boxman I'm returning to the Poker room, at a different casino. You know it was time to move when after you turn in your notice you just can't stop smiling. Everyone I used to work with noticed, "Gee Cye I've never seen you smile so much."

By the way when you quit a job and the people you work with ask why, what do you usually say? I've been saying that I needed a change, even though that isn't the full reason.

A funny thought occurred to me on my last day. I was sitting box and I was like, what other job would you be sitting in front of $150K on your last day.

Anyway congrats to all the other on their new jobs/promotions.

Whenever I've quit positions, I usually just state financial reasons. No reason to get into it with people whose relationship I'm severing. Once in my life, a job was so bad that I couldn't quite handle it, told the boss I was considering my options, and he told me to gtfo. So my guilt of leaving is very little, lol.

And congrats on the move back into poker! I transferred from the pit to poker at the same casino, but I know most everyone in the Table Games department typically is 'allowed' to leave once they put notice of resignation in.

A supervisor who left recently was in the room playing last night and seemed to be having a great time. I could tell he was super happy to be free.

He's apologizing profusely as she is just coming out of her stunned stupor and realizing what has just happened.

She interrupts his apology to yell at him. "You hit me in the FACE!"

The apology abruptly halted, the player now goes back to angry. "I said I was sorry!" Now he's all mad at her, like this is all her fault.
I had one player hit me in the face with his thrown cards when I paired the board a second time and cracked his flopped bottom boat against top-trips-top-kicker for a couple hundred at $1-$2.

He was a regular who tilted often and threw his cards often (but never at the dealer) and when he did it he was insta-apologetic and hit my hand with a $30 toke before the cards had settled to the felt on the bounce off my nose. He truly was horrified that his temper tantrum had collateral damage so I shrugged it off, tapped the toke slot and dealt the next hand. He apologized again the next time we played together and I laughed it off with something along the lines of "at $15 a card you can hit me once per down".

I had a known trouble maker fire the cards at my head once. I ducked, they landed on the floor behind me. "Cards down!" I made no effort to retrieve them.

The trouble maker quickly realized that if the floor came over and found out it was he who threw the cards at the dealer, it was better than 50% that he would get tossed out, possibly for good. As he was already unwelcome at several poker rooms in town for his ridiculous behavior, he sheepishly got up and retrieved the cards.

Next hand, I dealt him out.

He let out a little laugh (I think he had to admire the way I handled him myself without involving the floor or making a scene), loudly pounded the tabletop with his remaining stack, and left without a word.

(His next time in the room, he apologized to me so sincerely that I had to accept it...but that only lasted until the next bad beat he took.)

Your known trouble makers aren't that good at causing trouble. I once was dealing to a known trouble maker (the floor had come to the table three times that down to deal with his trouble making). He threw a card at me and i blocked it it, then he threw the other card. I never saw it, but it hurt, then I was dripping blood on the chips. I had about a quarter inch cut close to my eye.

edit to add: And that is the story of why nobody will ever throw cards at one of my dealers.

Last time I got hit with cards was by Sammy Farha after he lost a big hand to Gus Hansen. They were playing Omaha 8 or better and the flop come A-8-8. They were playing 4K-8K and it went 5 bets on the flop. Turn is a K for about 4 more bets and river is a 10 for another 3 bets. Sammy turns over A-A-2-3 then Gus turns over 8-8-r-r. Sammy hits me in the chin with his cards. I just turn and stare at him and he actually apologized to me. Then Gus threw me a black chip for the hand.
