I thought this only existed in dreams.

Dealers could easily bring chips in at stacks of 20 and splitting pots 2-3-4-ways was nearly instant. But to this day, in LV, every single poker room manager will scoff at this idea. Yet none of them have tried it! Interestingly, when a new player was told they would be stacking their bets or not play, they obliged and soon became proficient and happy to play the game because it was fast.

When we as dealers say it's bothersome to have so many red in the game it's further proof of our own ignorance. We're being selfish from a HPH point of view. But for some players, they want the visual edge of more chips. Which we should respect.

For me, it's not really about HPH numbers, I just don't get it. At 2/5, why does somebody need 1k in red? You don't see 1/2 players buying in $400 in white.

Now that's just ******ed management. And being as most 30-60 games are time games it's also a ripoff to the players. I've never seen a 30-60 or 40-80 game that wasnt $10 chips. Players should be smarter than that too and just demand $10 chips.
I'm almost certain they don't have $10 chips. It's also raked, not timed.

I have taken to telling people its my first day dealing anytime they give me the chance. It generally has the effect of forcing them to acknowledge that its not my first day.

I'll take the over as well, not because I'm familiar with the buffness of the room, but because given the stereotypical poker demographic, do you really need to be a "buff" level to get a Pulp Fiction reference?

OtOH, I did NOT get the Mr. Mom referenec (220, 221 whatever it takes) reference earlier.

I always have to figure out what you guys mean when you say "X threw in two Y colour chips". I don't see why casinos don't all just go with the standard reds are 5s, greens 25s, blacks 100s etc. My casino has yellow for singles, green for 5s, black for 25s and pink for 100s... grrrr.

If a player announces a bet size, say 100, and starts to put out 20 £5 chips, can we ask for the player to simply put in the £100 chip instead?

I would only do this if I had a reason to do so (drunk or ******ed player who will take 15 minutes to count out the chips). Occasionally I will ask a player to use the smaller chips because I need them for change.

Emphasis here on "if you win the pot" which to me means the player already mucked his/her cards and the pot is thus yours. I won't make someone show if s/he concedes the pot by mucking his/her hand, but if I called a bet, and s/he is waiting for me to show then nothing doing there.

1-3 professionals last night graveyard. One in particular is trying so hard. Black shades & all. Tanking every decision. Easily playing 75% of all hands, tanking limps, min raises, gets min re-raised after leading nearly 100% of any flops, tanks, folds. Of course he's also 100% a stiff. And min buys every time he gets stacked.

I'm getting pushed on one of the tables I dealt to him, I whisper in the incoming dealer's ear who's also been in the business 20+ years, "seat x is a pro". Later that morning when we were both up at the same time, the dealer chuckles and tells me about this 1-3 pro. He couldn't beat some of the worst 1-3 players I've seen in a long time. And not because they kept sucking out on him badly. But because he just kept donking off.

Sometimes this business is just kinda entertaining. I'm not sure where else one can get entertained by such ego's at the entry levels. Especially by 21 yr olds that know all there is to know, and will tell you so.

Do these kids really believe their own BS? Do they really think the millions of players that have come before them know nothing? It always puts a happy face on my day when I see them.

I had an O/8 player I've never seen before, bringing every showdown to a halt by calling "helping" me read the hands. He was wrong 100% of the time, but that didn't slow him down the next time six hands were tabled silently.

ME: A-K-7-2...he's got trip sevens and a live deuce--

HELPER: That's a flush!

ME: What? (double checks) No sir, he does not have a flush.

BYSTANDER: (explains to Helper that a naked ace doesn't make a flush in this game)

ME: They're shouting out wrong hands again, now I need to start over.

HELPER: Oh, I'm used to hold'em.

ME: (after watching this guy for an entire down disrupt every showdown; fold out of turn if he got tired of waiting, even though he needed "time" almost every street to figure out what he had; and stiff, of course) You're used to hold'em? Wow, I had you pegged for a natural-born O/8 player...

Had a guy being a jerk to me the other night cursing at me and just being nasty to me, he said I have not won one pot, now when I get up he gives me 5$ and tells me this is for being a ******* to you, what would you do.

This is my usual go-to as well. It was fun a couple of weeks ago when it actually was my first day.

Later in the night, all red board, three diamonds. One player tables AhKd, another Qd7d.

Me: "Queen high flush."

Helper: "He has the king of diamonds."

Me: (pushing up three diamonds on the board) "Yes, but she has two of them."

To be fair, I should have pushed the board initially, and I DO appreciate being corrected when I make a mistake. Guy seems like a good kid overall, just... young.

I push no boards unless there is a player not sure what he's seeing. I'll announce rarely as well. Giving opportunity for opposing player to act. If they don't muck or show quickly then I may announce. Even when a player shows a bluff or air I rarely say something unless opponents are sitting there staring trying to figure out what he has that they can beat. More often I'll only say "beat it or muck".

Wow, we had an extra dose of crazy in the room tonight. Every dealer in the break room had a story. Mine: I had a guy knock his chips off the table, then blame the chips! "These ****ing chips!"

I think those chips found there way to my table last night, chip runner brought them in a fill, and they just fought me tooth and nail as I tried to get them in my rack.

Thats his way of apologizing. Don;t get used to it. Most of them won't even try.

I called floor a month or so ago because I player was clearly intoxicated and was slowing the game down. This happens while the action is still on him. Facing a $5 bet into a $6 pot.

Drunk: (sarcastically) "Hey thanks Rawrs. Thanks for calling the floor. Here you go"
*Throws me a $5*
"Here's some more. Thanks Rawrs. Good job.
*Throws me $2*
"Here's another one, Thanks buddy!"
*throws me $1*

At that point the floor stepped in and said even though he appreciates him toking me, he needs to act on his hand.

Every time he tipped me I just said "thank you" and put it in my box. I'm pretty sure he was trying to tell me "Hey, I'm tipping you, so I can do whatever I want, *******"

I would have murdered that floorman! When I'm in the box, players have carte blanche to bring the game to a halt, as long as they're using that time to toke me. The other players don't mind! They enjoy the show! Management can go pound sand for one lousy minute!
