Guilty.

Not sure if I told you, but the person in question got through the test fine.

I'll need to take a trip to the shopping centre to get some black trousers that actually fit...
White button up shirt. Black pants. Don't improvise here.

And shoes. Black shoes. Not black sneakers. for some reason poker dealers think sneakers are shoes if they are black.

Until they do. When my room cracked down the whining was unbelievable. You would have thought we all got pay cuts.

Guilty. Come on man, their under a table 80% of the time. Luckily I found some Nike air's that look a lot like dress shoes.

Last time I had a floor/manager look down they saw my white socks and didn't say anything about my black sneakers

You guys know they make comfortable non-sneakers right? I've never understood people's aversion to nice shoes because of comfort. Yeah, maybe if you assume they're supposed to hurt your feet? There's plenty of of comfy shoes out there if you actually look. Besides, those complaining about it are on their butts 95% of the time they're at work.

I wear black skechers will black dress socks to deal. They definitely don't trick anybody into believing they are dress shoes, but AFAIK the dress code for dealers is just black shoes/socks.

When I floor, I wear dress shoes obv. If they required us to where dress shoes during dealing shifts I wouldn't care, as we sit 98% of the time any way.

At a casino nearby the specs for shoes include athletic shoes (i.e. sneakers) provided they have no logos and are completely black. The tide is turning on this one, methinks.

When I broke into the business I was a chip runner and on my feet for the majority of my 8 hr shift each day. Started in a pair of really comfortable dress shoes, and by the end of the shift I would be hobbling around like an old man.

Switched to a pair of all black nikes (including a black swoosh) and haven't looked back since.

Dress for the job you want.

Standard interview clothes for a casino gig is black slacks, black shoes, white button-down. That's what dealers wear. My last audition, I wore slim jeans with a dress shirt and tie, because I want them to see me as management. I could get away with jeans because I'm on the west coast and I'm a good dealer.

Today the SB, in the 9 seat, got three cards. He grunted to himself until action was on him, at which point I noticed. His hand was ruled dead by the floor. He didn't say anything about it at any time, just grunted and stared at his cards.

FFS, people. Use your words.

And don't move the button! I'm not saying this happened to pfapfap on this hand.... but when I was a break-in dealer, I used to deal 3 cards to the sb 2 or 3 times per shift. Eventually I started lining up the button on the player's left shoulder instead of his belly button, and all of a sudden I was giving 2 cards to every player, every time.

I lost a lot of weight this year, and don't have ANY nice clothes, because I didn't want to spend a lot of $$$ on clothes that were going to be too big after a few months. I'm just now starting to think I've lost about as much weight as I'm going to lose, so it's safe to go out and start buying clothes again. I had a date last week, so I went to the Goodwill store to put together an outfit. Don't laugh, I got an LL Bean dress shirt, a Dockers sweater (it's cold here), a pair of Lands End slacks, and Florsheim dress shoes for about $20 total.

I mention this because of those shoes: they were already broken in! They were extremely comfortable! Every pair of dress shoes I've ever owned, I bought them brand new (usually for a wedding or funeral), they tore my feet to shreds, and I never wore them a second time.

If you want/need a pair of dress shoes, hit up the thrift stores. I could totally work a floor shift and spend a night on my feet in these things if I had to.

(Also, thrift store shopping is fun, now that I wear a size that normal people wear--they don't have a lot of size 4XL stuff hanging on those racks...)

Basically the same in my house - the footwear requirement is basically just 'all black'. Some wear sneakers, some wear dress shoes, some wear various in-between flats.

When you audition, especially when you pitch, remember to BREATHE. It seems silly but it's amazing how many people hold their breath when they audition without realizing it. Also, take your time. They aren't going to care how fast you are if you screw up multiple things. Slow and accurate is better than fast and sloppy.

Just relax and have fun. GOOD LUCK!

Not skinny jeans. Slim jeans. They look far better on me than baggy 90s dad jeans.

This was totally my fault, I screwed up dealing.

Usually what I do is count on my pitch. 1-8, then 1-8 again. It works for preventing misdeals, and it gives me a rhythm (like dancing), which helps me pitch more quickly and accurately.

Interview went great! Don't think it could of gone any better to be honest.

The actual audition went ok They weren't expecting me to do fantastic as they knew i was new dealer and they were going to train me properly but i thought i did ok.

Only problems i had was for the audition we was using the casinos alternate chips , so i sometimes got the value of the chip mixed up when giving change , i had been used to chips being certain colours and values as i played there 4-5 times a week so if they were the normal chips i would instantly how much they are worth!

At the end of 7-8 normal hands, they made everyone go all in, so then i had to sort everything out. The guy said it's one of the worst situations he'd seen for someone's audition it was quite difficult for a new dealer... someone won the main pot then there was a 3 way split pot with 3 people having a pair of fours on a KK4JA board. , that took a bit of working out but i got there...

After a brief last few questions I thanked the manager for his time and left
