Yup. People blaming the dealers is one of my top pet peeves. The only thing worse is what you describe here. You can't take credit for someone winning with the cards you deal off the top of the deck.

I hear conversations like this a lot.

BJ dealer to player A: Man I just gave you two blackjacks in a row.
Player B: You are taking all of my money.
Dealer: Don't blame me I just deal the cards.

Agreed. I have to bite my tongue all the time. Just last week a blackjack dealer said, "This guy was being so rude on my table so I busted him." I just smile and walk away...

In blackjack, I think a lot of it is dependent on how fast you go. The faster, the more hands, quicker to bust 'em.

Run Em over!

Me too. Last time a woman complained about me non-stop for both of my one-hour pushes at her table. The only time she didn't was when I agreed with her about how much I sucked. She couldn't have that, so she disagreed with me and blamed the machine. That lasted about three hands before it was all my fault again.

Well, that's an easy way to find out who you shouldn't talk to. Dealers who complain about tips don't respect the game.

Oh for sure. I work with some really unappreciative dealers. I was working the floor one night and some dealer approached me who is notorious for being an ungrateful bitch.

Her: Am I allowed to not accept a tip?
Me: Um, no. Unless you don't want anybody to tip you ever.
H: I push this guy an $800 and all he gives me is $3.
M: .......

I about wanted to hit her. Her other highlights include EOing an hour into her shift or sooner while complaining that "there's no money to be made here". I've also heard her complain one night about how she toked out like $380 or so and was mad that she didn't even break $400. She's an above average dealer when it comes to speed/running the game, but she's so ungrateful it makes me rage. She also probably makes more money per down than any dealer in the room solely because she's the most attractive dealer in the room.

/rant

As far as the other guy. He's actually really good friend, sometimes he's just one of "those" guys.

This really pisses me off.

Even though I'm a much better dealer and get more hands out,
a dealer with boobs will always make more than me, and if
she's also good looking she can make 2 to 3 times what I make.

One of these came up to me and said,
"I can't believe they want me to say thank you for a measly dollar.".

I was standing around waiting for a dealing spot to open up at the WSOP single table satellites and this guy comes up with a list of names and wanted to know if any of them were working that day. After we got around the language barrier I figured out they were cashiers who had sold him winning satellite tickets and he only wanted to buy tickets from them. I had no way or desire to find a cashier by their last name (the tickets listed first initial, last name of who sold it) so I sent him to the cage and said good luck.

Is there a place for high content dealer chat? I'm new at this and have a ton of annoying questions.

When a dealer says something like this I don't take it as they are literally taking credit for the occurrence. When a dealer says they gave a player a flush on the river what I hear is that while they were dealing the player got lucky on the river.

Likewise if I tell you about the day i dealt two Spade Royals, or the day I dealt quad jacks two hands in a row, I'm not taking credit for it .... I'm telling you about my first hand experience with an unusual occurrence.

2+2 is a players forum, so anything dealer-related is low content. Ask here, you'll get answers.

Highest limit you guys have dealt?!?

Here's a great dealer-related story:

It's 4am and an out of towner comes in and is betting prop action for both himself and the dealers- always nice.

The guy before him 7's out and it's his roll. He throws me $6 for a two-way yo (11). That's $5 for him and $1 for us. He makes an 8. Places $160 inside which is $50 on the 5 $60 on the 6 and $50 on the 9.

He has $11 in his hand he says to me, since I'm on stick, call two yo's in a row. I go ok. Throw two in a row!

Two-way parlay on the yo. $10 for him and a dollar for the dealers.

Bam. Yoooo. He now has $160 on the Yo ($150+10) and the dealers now have $16 ($15+1). He says you take all the red and leave me with the $150. Ok. It's not going to hit, but you never know.

Sure as Sh*t... yoooooo the ol' 6-5 appears again.

"Comin down!" Ok. Pay that man $2400 and down.

Dealers take theirs for $416 and down!

Ship it! Wasn't too bad off a couple bucks.

I had a female dealer tell me that a male dealer and a female dealer of the same ability will make the same amount of money over the course of a year.

I disagreed.

Depends on how you define "ability"

I am a female. I don't understand why so many female dealers insist this is true because it is clearly NOT. Women make better tips, end of story.

An attractive female dealer who can flirt while still being a competent dealer will make a metric sh*t-ton of money.

But they also have to put up with a lot more crap from male customers too.

I don't remember. I think it was 1000/2000 6-max mix game. But I only dealt that a couple of times. On a regular basis, it was 25/50 PLO, which almost always had a 100 straddle and often a 200 re-straddle.

It's not as big in Florida as other parts of the country. My biggest game has been 50-100 NL or 10-25 PLO.

Biggest limit game was $1k-$2k limit.
Biggest NL game was $100 - $200 (shorthanded) $50-$100 nine handed

The largest game I was involved with was NL Mexican poker with a $1k ante and $1k bring in. I don't know what the buy in was.

The thing I will remember about the first time I dealt $1k-$2k limit was that it was a heads up stud game ..... both of the players were very pleasant gentlemen whom I had never seen before in the room. I got the impression that another room declined to spread the game for them so they ended up at my room.

I was the dealer who opened up the game ..... and maybe 15 minutes in one of the players looks at me and asks "If I have the bring in .... am I allowed to make the complete bet instead?"

This struck me as bizarre ...... because I could not imagine playing that big if I did not know the rules of the game...........

It is hard to imagine, but I have seen a lot of nose bleed games happen because there is someone so inexperienced that they don't know the rules.
