Doing splash pots for the games today.

You should have heard the room when the Redskins player slid down at the 1 yard line at the end of the game.

Two gems today.

First gem is loudmouth kid who had his Aces cracked on the river in a huge pot, and spent the next ten minutes barking at the guy with the 65o that beat him. You know, the usual, "I hope you keep playing like that, you'll go broke, blahblahblah..." After several minutes, the dealer gave him a light-hearted suggestion to settle down, but there was no stopping this kid, until he won a pot with K2, then he shut up for a few minutes.

But it didn't take long until he got another big starting hand, raised every street, and lost on a Four Clubs Showing Board to a runner-runner flush. His opponent turned up one card at showdown, the Ace that gave him the nuts. The loudmouth tabled his KK for top set, bemoaned his bad luck. The runner-runner guy tossed his other hole card towards the muck, face down, and it may have even touched the muck.

Don't need the floorman, though, because loudmouth shouts, "I WANT TO SEE HIS OTHER CARD!" It's an offsuit 2. Loudmouth says, "Yeah, of course! A2o, nice. Idiot!" And stomps away in anger--either that, or he ran off because he's too much of a pussy to stand his ground after calling someone an idiot.

The dealer mucked the KK, pushed the pot to the A2o, and explained to him that he should show both his cards when he wants the pot pushed his way. The dealer added, "He cost himself that pot by demanding to see your other card. Makes you wonder, who's the idiot?"

***

PLAYER: (folds out of turn)

DEALER: Wait a second! Action's back here.

PLAYER: (angry with dealer) But you called my name! Why did you call my name, if it wasn't my turn?

DEALER: Your name is Wait A Second?

Comedy gold! Still doesn't make sense, though. The player wasn't spoken to (presumably) until he'd already made the error.

That's why it's funny. The dealer hadn't said a word to the guy, yet the guy imagined that the dealer had called his name.

Im sure people could debate what the proper ruling should be .....she laid her hand on the table and the dealer pushed her the side pot, at which point she picked her cards back up and threw them into the muck herself because she was obv a moron, the dealer killed the hand and the fight broke out within 30 seconds of the hand being killed, the girl with the flush and her boyfriend were 86ed by security and never had a chance to get a floor decision on whether cardspeak i.e. her hand being tabled then killed after she herself mucked it

I am sitting there with the dealer and he gives me the blinds, the rest of the table went outside to fight (I don't know how many were fighting and how many were watching the fight, but at the table were me, the dealer and 8 chips stacks with no players).
Exactly, the place is a madhouse, the setting for this story was a prime saturday night well before last call

I thought I would share this dealer rant that happened at our casino. You may think I am making this up, as I would imagine many dealers have had this conversation in their head but never actually voiced it. I'm a reg in the 2/5NL game where I play, and that is the game this happened at, at my table.

The dealer is probably around 60, a retired NYC cop, has been dealing at this place for at least 8 years. He is sort of quirky at times, not in a mean way, but just a little "off". The player on the button is 25-30, nothing special about him, not a reg.

Action is UTG with KK raises to 30, all fold to the player OTB who calls with 94o. Flop 942 rainbow. UTG bets, OTB raises, UTG pushes, OTB calls. Turn blank, river K gives UTG the pot with set of Ks vs OTB flopped two pair.

The discussion between the dealer (D) and OTB Player (P) goes just like this, almost verbatim:

P: dealer you suck. Why did you have to put the K out there?
D: I suck? You suck! Why did you call a raise with 94?
P: What did you say?
D: You heard me.
P: Call a supervisor.
D: Good. I want to call a supervisor. All day long I have to put up with bad players telling me I suck when they suck. They say "how could you do that?" and I think "how can you play so bad?". I'm tired of this ****. Everyone here thinks they are great players and they always blame the dealer, but they are terrible players. All day long I have to listen to them call me names when it's their fault. I've had enough of this. Call the supervisor!

So since I know the dealer well, I just started laughing out loud. The player was speechless, and the rest of the table started chuckling, not really sure what had just happened. So I just went "next hand" and the dealer pushed the button on the autoshuffler, the player didn't say a word, and on we went with the game.

It was one of the funniest thing I've seen, and I don't believe the player ever complained to the floor.

As strange as this sounds, that's exactly how it went down. Thought you dealers might enjoy it.

Somehow I'm reminded of Lost in America.

"I'm not one of those schmucks who comes here to see Wayne Newton."

"I like Wayne Newton."

I'll stick with, "Don't blame me, I didn't check the turn!" I love when I get to hit 'em with that in response.

Oh man, gotta report this one:

Black guy in Seat 8 is talking smack before, during, and after every hand. None of it is mean, he's not telling people they play bad or anything. It's just a running "I'm gonna beat all of you" type of nonstop patter, all of it said with a smile or a wink. But he's on a heater since I sat down, and you know how folks find annoying people far more annoying when they're winning, so a couple of the Asian guys start giving it back to him.

This goes on for several hands, and while the winks and the smiles and the pleasant tones remained unchanged and were expressed by all parties involved, the WORDS were starting to get heated. It started evolving into "How could you call with this?" and "Why didn't you raise with that?", then into "You're going to lose all your chips," etc.

Then the black guy throws into the conversation, "I'm black," as if that explains why everyone is getting angry with him.

"So what? I'm yellow," replied Asian #1, still smiling.

"I'm yellow, too," added Asian #2, "But you're still a monkey to me." This, too, was said with a smile. Not a fake smile, but a big, genuine smile, like this is no different from all the other patter up to this point.

The black guy's eyes immediately go wide in shock, and he instantly looks to me.

"Don't look at me! YOU went there, they just went with you."

But obv, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, and it was time to stop this. The floor was nearby, so I called him over and explained what's going on, and floor said please stop. It stopped immediately, and after a few hands the black guy said to Asian #2, "You know I was just having fun, right? And I didn't mean any of that?"

Asian #2 replied, "Of course. You know the same goes for me, right?"

And that was that.

I love a happy ending.

I know ive told this story prior, but this reminded me of it again:
many years ago dealing 1-3 stud on a riverboat one player is griping and grumbling as he keep losing hand after hand when finally its just to much and the attack on me begins.
Why are you doing this to me, you are a ****ty dealer, you suck, you do this to me on purpose etc etc. Eventually he started to focus on the fact that i had it out for him and was intentionally dealing him bad cards, the profanity started in earnest so i stopped dealing. I looked at him and said:
You obviously think i have control of the cards .
YOU do , you are doing this on purpose ! he responded
Then, i said, think about this: IF in fact i could control the cards, why in the world would you want to piss me off?
He started to respond, but stopped and just stared at me, i smiled a bit and resumed dealing.
He didn't say another word.( so he actually really did think i had control i suppose)

Powerball jackpot is up to $425M and still climbing. We ended up with about 15 dealers who all pitched in a few bucks to go in as a team and split the winnings. Naturally this led to breakroom discussions throughout the day about what we'd do with our lives after we quit our dealing jobs.

At one point I had the idea that it would be much more fun to get fired than to just resign, which led to some spirited ideas about which customer we'd most want to be unreserved with on the table, to the point that management would have to fire us.

My own gem is to wait until one of our floor supervisors is on duty and have him come over to make a floor call (which he invariably botches every time). After he makes his ruling, I'll turn around in my chair, and say, "That's your decision??? Are you ___'ing kidding me?" Just the mental image of this is worth the few bucks' investment for the tickets.

I'll NEVER join a Powerball syndicate of coworkers. For every happy story, there are a dozen about the coworker who bought the tickets trying to screw everyone else out of the money. "No no, THAT ticket was MY OWN ticket, separate from the ones those chumps bought."

Which is why you make Xerox copies of the tickets so that everyone knows the numbers beforehand.

Just imagine how sick you would feel going in to work tomorrow and finding out a group of your coworkers won this thing and they had asked you to join in but you didn't ........
