I quit carrying a rack around with me. I don't know when I did that, I think it has been a few years. It finally bit me tonight because a floor call required a rack and I had to go get one.

Because all players are entitled to hear announcements by the dealer. If you didn't hear me, I'll repeat it for you.

They're entitled to know who bet, who raised, etc.

They're not entitled to my help with who gave what tell.

About 18 months ago, I dealt out a hand, had several limpers.

Flop J,Q,K rb.

There wee two very tight players at the table. One of them, Bob, an old timer who used to run the Horseshoe poker room for Jack (Benny) Binion when they started the WSOP. He even came in 2nd place in the ME one year.

He goes all in, so did another tight regular and a third player I didn't recognize.

the board ran out, no flush, no pairs OTB.

Everyone flipped over, they all had A,10 os.

Bob told me he had never seen that before.

Today, I dealt it again.

A,Q, 10 rb, three players all in with K,J.

One I don't think I'll see again. Probably belongs in the absurd thinking thread.

Bet and two callers on the river. Board is 888Q6.

All three table 9 high for the split.

Quick question. How many cords and or plugs are at your feet in the box? Where I work there is a junk pile at my feet.

Last night, it led to this: a dealer in the breakroom, taking off his uniform shirt, pulling on a jacket, and saying, "I'm gonna go chase the dream one more time--when the bbj is THIS big, it would almost be irresponsible NOT to play!"

I haven't been forced out in weeks now, because the Play List is chock full every night.

Giving up, I went to put the short deck back in the box. Lo and behold, there it was. That table played without the ace of clubs for 90 minutes.
Had the same sort of thing in a bar league game (but this was the 'grand championship') where the players played 40 minutes (2 levels) without the Q of H because there was not one player at any table (which included some off-duty dealers at the local casino) who counted down the deck before they dealt. It was face up under the table.

I got pretty fast at doing it and had seen some sneaky stuff before so I just did it every second deal I did. I was not at the table missing the Queen for the record.

This is also the bar league I announced action as it was occurring and would often be looked at weirdly by the more experienced casino dealers who always sat there like rocks.

I think this was a by-product of it being all limit at my local casino, but it may just be some bad habits.

Hi, everyone.

I just started working as a poker dealer at Horseshoe Cleveland last Tuesday. Just wanted to stop in and say hello.

Mistake one, you have told the world that the owner of this screen name works at a particular casino. I SOOOOO wish I had never done that.

Get a new account now, with a new screen name.

Then, never reveal where you work.

I'm really just trying to be helpful.

Or possibly don't use the screen name "Dealer Guy" and cause people to be like "man I wonder where this guy works"

I don't plan on posting any complaining about guests or the company. I know their social network policy, and I don't plan on doing anything here that's going to get me fired or make guests uncomfortable.

Besides, I love it so far. Only real issue I've had in my first week was that I had a tray variance yesterday because I accidentally gave someone $5 too much when I was making change from the tray, and my right arm is a little sore from all the card-pitching I've done.

The bold is spoken like a Harrah's dealer. I would recommend a quality dealing school to learn how to pitch without making your arm tired.

This, absolutely.

I don't pitch with my arm, I pitch with the middle finger of my right hand.

I would suggest that people here not knowing where you work would be aa very good thing.

Ya, If your arm is tired from this job you are doing something wrong. It's all about the fingers

Its not always about what you plan on doing ......

Well its only one week. When I said you had our sympathy .... I meant on both counts. First you are in Cleveland ...... I thought Dealer Guy had it bad being stuck in Oklahoma .....

Second you work for a company which treats its employees like ****. You have been there for 1 week. Its great that you love it. I don't want to ruin your mood ... I hope for your sake that you always love it. But many of us have had very negative experiences with your employer. And I have already seen how they are treating dealers at your specific property and am not too impressed.

I wish you luck.

Two things:

1. Not only do I *NOT* know my company's social media policy...I don't even know if they HAVE a social media policy!

2. AL SWEARENGEN: Saying your plans out loud, is a great way to hear God laugh.

(Sorry, I can never pass up a chance to quote Deadwood...just like RR can never pass up a chance to bash Harrahs.)
