2-250 spread at either Casino Arizona or Gila River. Buyin is bigger at Gila if that's your thing. Casino arizona will have more available games.

IMO you should make the drive over to CAZ. They have 1/2nl (its a $250 spread but close enough to no limit since you can bet more than 100bbs) It's far and away the best casino in town.

yeah but if youre looking for higher stakes, or even medium stakes, you just drive it because youre SOL for cardrooms on the west side. I knew quite a few ppl at the fort aand ca who drove out several times a week from the west side... even one madman who made the trip almost every day from surprise.

NOSUP and others --
I hit up CA on Monday night and also Tuesday night.
I want to thank you all for suggesting it !!!!
The first night I took the loop (up north , then east , then back south ) and it took 45 minutes. The second night I took the road that went through downtown and then up north . This route took a half an hour (much faster ). The bartender/server at the hotel suggested I take this route .

I was a bit hesitant when I saw two smallist tents for the casino , but once I went inside and saw the large poker room -- I felt better ---

Both nights I was immediately seated at the spread limit game (which played like 1-2 at home ) and had a GREAT time !!!

I find the people of the Phoenix area to be the FRIENDLIEST I have ever met overall ... AND that was in the Poker room too --- there was no swearing and when someone lost a big hand , they kinda let it go and not got too hissy about it .

I won a little bit of money both nights.
The dealers were fast and competent.
The floor/desk staff friendly and quick ---
The food/beverage service WAS Awesome !!!!!!!
By far the best I have ever had at a casino --

If I make it out to ST in the future , or another trip to Phoenix .. I will definitely hit up CA again (and most likely it will be in the new place )--

I only spent 2 full days in Phoenix and I felt that it was not enough.
I loved the city/surrounding areas and again the people I encountered were GREAT !

I hope the new building and room is great for you all !!
I do hope the food service prices don't go up too much for you all either --
On Monday evening before I hit up the casino , I ate some dinner.
I wish I wouldn't have as I kept seeing the servers bring players AWESOME food at really good prices too . I wasn't too hungry when I played Tuesday night so I ordered an apple pie ala mode and it was only like 3 bucks !! The apple pie was warm , a large slice , and came with Ben and Jerry's ice cream !! What a deal !!

AS I am sitting here typing this , I so want to go back to Phoenix !!!!!!

Just got back from a trip to Phx and played at Casino Arizona for the first time. I was shocked at the rake. Taking the small blind before the hand was dealt caused an argument about every two hours on whether it was put out or not. Taking $2 on every flop regardless of size? WTF??? Food and prices were great, but no free drinks gave the room a very somber feeling compared to free drink rooms.

I only played 1/2, and the players seemed more competent on avg than a vegas 1/2 game. I ended up a little over $1500 for the two day trip, including $619 for the table share of a bad beat. On the whole, I would say it is a good room, but with the crazy rake schedule and no free drinks, I think I will try some of the smaller rooms of questionable legality next time I am in town.

I don't know anything about them, but I wasn't aware there were free drink rooms anywhere in AZ, and I'd be surprised if the rake at a smaller room was less than at CAZ?

It is not the $4+1 rake, it is that they take 1 before the cards come out, and 2 for the flop. If it folds to the sb, who completes, you would have $1 in the pot after the flop. The games are definitely beatable, but stuff like will add up to a lot of money compared to a std no flop no drop and $1 drop after each 10 in the pot in the long run.
