This is the statement that I believe is not a fair statement. Thousands of guests were sent out free room offers, free parking, poker rate offers. We give away thousands of dollars each month on cash giveaways to our guests. I am not saying that we will give the same package out as another casino, I am just saying that I can not stand by and let that statement stand without some type of argument that we do not give our 1-2 players anything but $2 comps per hour. I know better. I see the offers and how many we send out.

Stan
Stan, it was a little unfair but for those players like me who can only play on weekends and aren't willing to spend any money on a hotel room, the only really useful comps I get are my dollarly comps and my free parking. Sure you give away free rooms during the week and free cash on Thursday but that doesn't really help a lot of us.

Getting a free weekend room is a huge benefit for a player and dwarfs most other comps.

Don't get me wrong, I understand why it can't be offered very often (or ever) but that's an advantage that some of the smaller poker rooms / casinos have.

Hey Stan,

I've been playing poker at the Borgata anywhere from 2-4 times a month since around May. How much volume would I need to put in to start getting comps/discounts on rooms? The suites are great, but I put in less volume at the Tropicana and already get great discounts on rooms. Ended up staying at the Borgata last Friday b/c everywhere else was booked and it ended up costing around $350. thanks

I have been very generous with giving free rooms to players like yourself that can only play on the weekends. Most players in you situation will PM and ask. I do find it hard to say no if the player is genuine in his/her asks.

Hey stan I wasnt trying to bash Borgata just giving my 2 cents and my experience. I am a big fan of borgata and play 99 percent of my poker there. They have the best Floor, dealers, room, you name it BOrgata is the best. As far as the free rooms go I have an offer for 2 nights a week but have been turned down the last 3 times I asked on a weekday. Ontop of that they "offered" me a rate of 199$, not even a weekday poker rate. I would Imagine If I am a black card member putting in atleast 25 hours a week and I Cant get a room a low limit player would have no shot. Also a player at my table tried to get a room yesterday after playing 17 hours straight and was turned down, he then called harrahs where he played 2 hours of 1/2 nl and got a free room. We all know the Borgata is the best of the best in AC when it comes to poker hands down but that comes at a slight price. for someone comming down on a tight budget a free room means alot. I know alot of people who go to harrahs, put in their 5-6 hours for the free room then head over to borgata for the remainder of their sesson.

Edit: Stan is the man and def goes out of his way to help out all poker players. If it was up to him I have no doubt in my mind we'd all be getting free rooms. Unfortunately Borgata is the best place in AC and that comes at a price. When a 100 min black jack player calls saturday night and wants a room I understand why he would get it over any poker player. My only personal gripe is a steady 2/5 player like myself will prob be playing close to 20k this year in rake. Now i know i only generate maybe 100$ on a daily outlook so giving me a free room on a saturday doesnt make sense, but overall Im prob dropping jsut as much as that BJ player on a yearly outlook. Would it kill the Borg to give me a free weekend room once in a while?

Not in my experience. Most times I've been there to play $1/$2, my table has been 70% players under age 35. Many of the "older" players are at the $2/$4, $3/$6 or stud tables.

Wow... Stan is very impressive. He's now removed the only complaint about the Borgata that I've ever had.

I used to be probably the biggest Taj fanboy on this board, but thet have really just fallin to the wayside. I usually stay there cause they give me the free sun-fri. The last time I was there was the saddest sight I've seen. All old rocks with no $$ on the table.

I used to love the Taj, but since Dan left to go to Harrahs its been downhill

i'm a recreational player. been to borg about 5-8 times in past 12 months. I play few table games (aka i dropped 2k playing bj).

I couldn't even qualify for the poker rate during teh summer, dont even talk about free rooms.

I love playing at borg, table selection, cleaniness, the atmosphere.

The comps are $2 an hour. But they go at the foodcourt for 2:1 so its really a dollar an hour.

And don't forget to swipe out when you leave or you don't get squat.

I prefer going to the harrahs properties now because I get free room offers all the time. I played way less there than I did at borg and I enjoy my offers.

the only offer i got from borg was the "wake up and shine" or some crap. "call for rates"

I have to chime in here and point out that Stan is incredibly generous with room comps if you just PM him and ask. I play 1/2 and occasionally 2/5 NL and only occassionaly get free weekday winter room flyers from the Borg in the mail. However, Stan has hooked me up with some incredible room deals for weekends in the summer (like a free night, and a steeply discounted night). No other casino has ever done that for me.

I have to say that if you just ask the right people (Stan), the Borg's comps can be better than the comps at any of the other casinos.

Take my opinion with a proper grain of salt, but as a casual player who lives out of state, and plays maybe 2-3 times a year in AC, I have to hand it to the Trop as far as comps go. I routinely get weekday free room offers even w/o a ton of play as well as other random offers that get mailed/emailed to me on a fairly regular basis. I used to play at Taj, but migrated to Trop once they opened the non-casino area as it's a nice place to take a break.

I have to hand it to Stan he really does hook the players up. Whenever I wanted a room I would just call and ask if I had any offers, but recently have been turned down for free rooms. after seeing stans post about asking him directly I decided to take him up on it and shoot him a PM. Within 10 minutes I had a free room for saturday night. Definitely no service like it in AC.

You received the room because you have been a very loyal NL player at the Borgata. I can not promise everyone a comp room. I can however try to help players make the transition to the Borgata. I know that players hate change and if you feel you have a good thing going WHY CHANGE. There may be some players that may want to become Borgata players but don't have the time vested to receive any offers. I can help out with poker rated rooms, mostly mid-week until you get your feet wet and start earning things on your own. But once again i do not know why you were having trouble getting the room, you have been very loyal.

I can vouch for this as well. Been playing 1/2 there for a year or so and have just recently moved up to 2/5. Approx 24 hours a month. Ive received very fair poker room rates, free parking vouchers etc and if you EVER need anything above and beyond that....just ask. You will almost always be accomodated.

Delurking for this one...

I've intermittently played 1/2 and 2/5 for four or five years and generally been reasonably happy with comps at the Borgata. It's the same buck/two bucks an hour everywhere. I've probably gotten more free rooms at Harrah's casinos, but I normally prefer to drive home anyways. And I have gotten weekday and, on occasion, weekend rooms at the Borg just from booking on the site or calling. But really, if you're only an occasional 1/2, you probably can't expect standard comps plus an occasional offer anywhere.

I'm currently trying to get on a semi-regular once or twice a week 2/5 groove, so I'll probably be Borg-only now. The average Borg 2/5 is, IMO, the best game on the east coast, and with the ability to table select it's just not a competition between the other casinos in AC.

In Brooklyn during the week, AC weekends, holidays, and other days off.

I am looking for a job in AC, with a nice fat salary and bennies like NYC...

g00t to hear from u again.
we may be getting live pokerz in PA soon, so my minimal tour bus trips to AC may become more minimal...

for the rest of u...
since I'm mostly doing stud these days, I'm preferring the Taj.

The tour bus thang is getting old tho. They don't give u cash rebates anymore, just free slot play. My usual dropoff point, the Trop, was a real fiasco. My slot card got eaten, twice, I had 2 argue with the staff, they kinda thot I was scamming em [no I wasn't, was gonna get my slot play over and done with, then walk to the Taj], but finally all was solved.
Next tour bus, I try Caesar's. [yeah, I know, but no car, and it's 30 something round trip from Scranton]
3.00 less slot comp, but closer walk 2 the Taj.

I have only been to Caesars and Tropicana. Trop's poker room is bigger. Caesars has import and domestic bottled beer, where trop. only has domestic light beer in draft. I have accumulated a good chunk of hours played (with $1per hour comped) at Trop, but have yet to inquire about the poke rate for weekends (if it exists?). I just make day trips.
