Re: Best Damn Poker Show - Premieres JAN 12

it was aired 9:00 CST here.

I saw it an hour ahead of you guys on the east coast...

the quality of the players play on my first table was considered
the worst of the preliminaries

Re: Best Damn Poker Show - Premieres JAN 12

The one improvement from last year is that they don't eliminated someone right away. They saw a player make one bad play and BOOM! they were gone. I recall them eliminating the chip leader from one of the tables to their surprise.

~there will be some grey areas in the eliminations in future episodes

table one

~Christine was the focus and marketed very well.
~John Hair
~Mike Spinasanta
~Darryl Dare
~John Nau. Very cool party boy.
~and THE TONZ

my table

Brad was my buddy and I bonded with him. I know Jaime and have hung out in Vegas with her. She won like 4 ME seats and I think she is a very cool chick. John the writer...nice guy, not good at pokers.
Dave it was rumored had NO cards during the elimination rounds.

AND REM The guy interrogated me the night of the dinner and I didnt realize he was 'taking notes'. LOL @ telling stories. The guy asked me 20 questions! Brad told me later and we got a good laugh out of REM and his scouting report. IF you can't see it coming...

NOTES:

~Phil was dead on why I was showing hands! (more later)
~Annie was right on also. I wanted them to think I always had it
and I am absolutely a show off.
~REM was really the only person I did not paticularly like out of everyone involved in the show...really wanted to bust dat azz!

OK, I know the show was edited, so we don't see every hand, but that was some of the most gawd awful poker play I've ever seen. The only thing worse was when MTV (I think) did some sort of poker show with hip-hop artists.

I'll watch the show again to see if it gets interesting, but I spent most of the first show with my jaw agape, screaming how can you do that, you idiot!

I suppose this is part of the premise. The coaching from Annie and Phil is supposed to make the difference, not the skills that the players already have.

Scotty, do you think ego was a factor? I thought it kind of odd how many times you showed your hand. Once or twice is enough to leave an impression. How much of that was strategy and how much was "See that? I'm better than you." Did you ever show a bluff?

I'm not criticizing. I'm just curious.

i agree-i actually regretted doing it that day
How much of that was strategy
3/4 strategy, 1/4 funnin
and how much was "See that? I'm better than you."
none
Did you ever show a bluff?
i dont think so. i very rarely show a bluff.
THAT would be ego IMO
MY first table's play was horrible. It was alot of limping, multiway flops, and that guy REM raising right in front of me every other hand. He captured alot of chips preflop raising in the cutoff & forcing folds (beating me to the punch ).

My cards were a little short and THEY made me play bad . Seriously.

MY STRATEGY: Create an image for later b/c in this 6 man donkament structure...stealing would become very important in later rounds.

KJ vs JJ? It was REM w/ his usual wide range in CO.

10 9? When in Rome I say AND I had just won a few small pots.
F IT! They were playing baaaad toooooo. I jumped in the pot.

Could others verify if this is true? There's a show on FSN about online players that qualified at WPT.com or something and the poker play is so horrible I go on tilt after watching 5 minutes. Is this more of the same? I am getting sick of WSOP 08 reruns but will not watch dudes massacre the game of poker just to get my poker viewing fix.

There's a lot of bad poker, but it's also different than other shows: it's a reality show, not a poker broadcast. It sounds like it would put you on tilt.

Scotty, I really enjoyed the show last night. Were those all the hands you guys played before the writer got axed, or is there some serious editing?

Annie and Phil were pretty critical, but if you notice...they disagreed often about basic theory. Thats poker, as there is more than one way to skin a cat. I often laugh at posters here that analyze hands they saw on TV, as it is a 'you werent there' trap.

Brad and I, if I remember correctly, counted less than 5 or 6 orbits at our first preliminary table. I remember a number like 28 hands. Imagine. Phil and Annie critiquing a 6 man turbo SnG for a lousy 30 hands. I think my first table was stopped earlier than the other tables due to the piss poor poker we were playing. Seriously. It was so bad that they had seen enough!

This is a 7 part show and the structures got better as the competition progressed. You gotta give it some time to develop IMO. In UBs defense, they did do everything they could to get the BEST players at the FT. The first 2 weeks will be a weeding out process.

THE TONZs Video submission is a MUST SEE!

I think it's safe to say this show is a step above the Black Poker Stars Invitational on BET ... barely. I really don't get why Shawn Rice is on a television show, though.

Re: Best Damn Poker Show - Premieres JAN 12

good morning. so I watched episode once again this morn before I am off to play...and I have an observation.

1) There is a series of shots at dinner. FADE into a shot of Christine quoted, 'It was interesting. It definitely changed the dynamic of the initial meeting of dinner. Everyone was totally sizing each other up.'

2) THEN a shot of me rambling about LUCK. The cameras had just approach our table and this was the first attention our table was given. They caught me midstream

3) CUT TO REM, 'Theyre all telling their stories. I am just sizing em up.'
4) CUT TO ME 'Blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda'.

MY point? REM and Christine's commentaries? I remain skeptical that them interviews and statements about me were filmed the night of the dinner! The backdrop does not seem like the restaraunt and the decor DOES NOT match. While there is restaraunt audio noise dubbed into the video of the Christine and REMs commentaries, at no point did I see any interviews or one on ones the first night. Sneakingly suspicious IMO. BUT hey, its just bizness. SHOW BIZNESS!

P.S. I swore I would not post any more spoilers here, but can you
see REMs fate coming?

Scotty its Rem

Your skepticism is unfounded bro. They pulled us off to the side in the restaurant and had a little room set up. Maybe you were just not interesting enough for them to spend time on.

I really did not enjoy your company either. If I had to hear another story I was gonna have to shoot your "Gangsta" a**. And as far as busting my a**, our episode did not show who had more chips at the end of our run. Everyone can figure out it was not you. Even after I doubled you up when you Donkey shoved with KJ, (also not shown on the episode). I still had more than you. Ill leave the rest for when they air it but I would be carefull who you criticize on this site because I owned you on that table.

PS: "Gangsta" is not a good word to describe yourself, I would stop using it.

my mistake, i wasnt aware you 'owned' anybody at the show
REM its Scotty. I have made many public spoilers about the BDPS and I promised an unnamed FOX VP that I wouldn't do that anymore.
I will say that your placing in the shows upcoming TEAM drafts is an accurate assessment of your mad poker skills IMO.

The fact that you ACTUALLY TOOK NOTES at dinner says alot about you. Who the **** does that? Douchebags! And I will not even ***** about the unflattering remarks you made about me as even a note taking douche should be entitled to an opinion.

P.S. How did you gain entry on the show?

Interested parties want to know.

Re: Best Damn Poker Show - Premieres JAN 12

Scotty or should I address you as "Gangsta"

Your reply just shows that you have no poker value. You cannot argue a thing I say about your poker play. Thats because it is all accurate. We will save the banter about future episoides ( I would hate for you to lie to your FOX VP friend, yeah right. Probably just another bad attempt to make yourself look good) but I will tell you this, if all you have in your bag is to call me a douchebag then I feel sorry for you.

your just upset because my opinion of you was accurate and the producers chose to show what I said about you. HMMM, I wonder why.

Dont get mad brother. its all good. I know im a better player than you. Playing poker for 30 hands is a tough way to evaluate it. But if we saw every hand then it would show that I had you right where I wanted you. On Tilt, calling raises with KJ and dead shoving all your chips with KJ. Good Poker brother. You wanted to bust me so bad that if they would of let us play there was no way you would of lasted another level.

And you want to know how I got on the show? let me ask you this. How many cashes did you have at last years World Series? There is your answer.

Just a hint for you. When you show hands alot, like you do. Your only trying to get validation for your own play. A good player is comfortable with his play even if someone else does not understand it. Besides it is a dead give away of when you dont have anything. Just wanted to help you get better

Man I have no idea who wins the show but if you do it will be a sad state for poker. Work on your game Bro
