Seminole Hard Rock Tampa has hours-based promotions every month where you get a certain amount of money per hours played. I've seen it as high as $500 every 50 hours. This month it is slightly different. They are giving $1000 to the top 50 players with most hours played and $2000 total for first.
I believe that these type of promotions attract nitty OMC grinder types.
I don't mind the idea of comps/hour because that seems like a fair way to distribute rakeback, but these frequent player promotions seem to cross the line IMO. At one of the cardrooms I frequent they have a similar tournament promotion where they rake $5 from every buy-in to go to the "player of the month". The occasional player has no chance of winning this promotion. Even if they play one tournament a month and win, they can't crack the top 100.
My point is that frequent players are being rewarded on the backs of people who literally cannot win since they don't play often enough.
