depends on the day - but MGM NH has $500 hot tables on friday and saterday with about 39 tables running so it works out to be about $12 an hour per player over time. Lots of variance in trying to hit one though, but they are giving away $500 per person to a lucky table every hour.

I also think trying to grind cash promotions is not going to net you the highest hourly. Getting really good at the game will and finding the best places to play will.

A local casino here in South Florida gives about $4/h in comps to 2|5 players if you have a high enough tier rating.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa has hours-based promotions every month where you get a certain amount of money per hours played. I've seen it as high as $500 every 50 hours. This month it is slightly different. They are giving $1000 to the top 50 players with most hours played and $2000 total for first.

I believe that these type of promotions attract nitty OMC grinder types.

I don't mind the idea of comps/hour because that seems like a fair way to distribute rakeback, but these frequent player promotions seem to cross the line IMO. At one of the cardrooms I frequent they have a similar tournament promotion where they rake $5 from every buy-in to go to the "player of the month". The occasional player has no chance of winning this promotion. Even if they play one tournament a month and win, they can't crack the top 100.

My point is that frequent players are being rewarded on the backs of people who literally cannot win since they don't play often enough.

The orleans in vegas usually has some type of hours promo. It changes month to month but tends to be most hours played per month from 2am to 10am or similar. One month this summer it was total hours played with the hours from 2am to 10am counting for double. I played 3 14 hour days and decided that was enough of that. Some crazy guy had not left the casino yet apparently he normally got first prize most months. Must be awful for his health. You can see details on bravo or call the room.

Personally I believe the various leaderboard promos are a fail.

As soon as a handful of players establish benchmarks on top of list, vast majority of players know they will never be up top, thus promo is out reach and meaningless to them.

Am I missing something?

Its probably the difference between 4-5 tables going overnight and the room coming to a dead stop at 4 am every day. Presumably worth it for the orleans. A flatter play x hours paid x hours would be preferable to me but that room definitely has people playing for $100 back at the end of the month too.

Exactly my sentiments on it. These do not attract additional players to the room as the Floor Managers would hope.

They're amazing promos for old retired regs with infinite time on their hands.
