Read heaps of threads on 2+2 that point to the poster's choice for the worst casino in Australia, but which is the best?

My choice: Treasury Brisbane. Staff are poor (and delusional), games are slow, rake is a deathwish but they get something other casinos (Perth and Cairns excluded) don't. They get the fly-in fly-out cashed up single miner who just wants to drink, visit a brothel, and play poker. This factor just gives Treasury the edge.

Any thoughts?

Travelled heaps in the last 6 weeks - in a position to provide a more detailed response.

1. Treasury, Brisbane
2. Crown, Melbourne
3. Reef, Cairns

(only 3 poker playing Oz casinos excluded are Perth { accom way too expensive, too remote}, Townsville, Launceston {both too small and remote-ish}......Lasseters Alice Springs too if they still play there, but like Darwin they may have folded their poker also).

I was there around Show time vinrok, b4 it moved. Yeah it's ok, but SA money is tight. Not the casual money that others enjoy. So SkyCity Adelaide didn't make top 3 IMO

What is crown Melbourne like?? Ive got a friend who I'm visiting mid-2014, I mainly play PLO, do they get any games going? If so, do you have to wait for hours or are there enough regs/semi regs that there is always games going?

Crown Melbourne has 1/3 PLO running almost every day and it's a gold mine. People are constantly triple and quadruple straddling (often it turns into a short-stacked $50/$100 game).

As far as NLHE goes, there are usually around 30 tables running at any given time, with obviously more tables on Friday and Saturday evenings.

There are 3 major drawbacks though:
1) $5 seating charge. You must pay this everytime you transfer to a different table.
2) Rake is very high: 10% capped at $15 for most games (except 1/2 which is 10% capped at $20 and except 10/20+ which is done via time charge, usually $30/person/hr).
3) Ridiculous "turbo format" played at 1/2, 1/3 and 2/5 NLHE. You have 15 seconds to act per street, after which you must pay a 1bb time charge for an additional 30 seconds (can only be done twice per hand). So at $2/$5 when someone jams 2k on the river, you've got 15 seconds to think, or you can pay $5 per 30 seconds extra.

Good points 6bet. They are losing customers; but you hear stories of guns being pulled out at home games - so maybe the numbers will return after all.

Yes anyone who would complain about that isn't thinking straight - much better for #hands per hour. Same goes for not changing money at the table, another great time saver. Just a shame those electronic poker tables never took off though.
