Any updates on what the softest 1-2 games are at the moment? I'm off to Vegas (first time) this November and was wondering where I should be heading. I'm getting there Thursday late night, and was wondering if there might be something running from then, all the way through Friday night.

Imperial Palace is a soft game. Weekend you will most likely find something soft anywhere. MGM used to be nice, but not sure what the .5/1.00 NL game has done to the 1/2 game.

Golden Nugget has no max 1/2 buy in. Bellagio is always good, but don't be upset when you are treated like crap from the room.

I've done quite well at Harrah's overnight. It's hard to say what is best because that probably changes every night/weekend. Don't tie yourself to one room and be open to move to different rooms until you find the one that suits you best.

Bellagio/Venetian/MGM will have the most table running.

YMMV, but I've found V has better players than the B, MGM or Mandalay. But on any given weekend on any given table there are gifts abound.

1/2 is soft to extremely soft everywhere, for consistency in multiple tables spread and lots of fishies go to Bally's. Caesar's on the weekend is OK but forget it during the week. Bellagio and Venetian always have action. MGM usually spreads the most 1/2 tables at any given time and while they have a few regs it's easy to move to another table. Golden Nugget downtown is an uncapped 1/2 game that can play very deep, if you are a good player who can buy in to cover everyone it can be a very profitable game by 1/2's standards.

2/5 can range from very soft to filled with regs. Mind you, the regs are not necessarily good players because they are live players after all, but they will play ABC tight poker so you can't make much off them especially if they softplay each other like they do at the MGM 2/5. For best action pick one from Bellagio/Venetian/Wynn, each has its pros and cons but weekend 2/5 at all three are pretty soft, there will always be donators at the table and your job is to avoid the regs that you think are decent and observe to stack the donks. All 3 have rich players who will reload multiple times, if you aren't on a table with a whale like that ask for a table change. Note though, that the Vegas 2/5 often plays almost as big as 5/10 elsewhere because buyin is usually $1000 and multiple players will be sitting with that or more.. and the big 3 I mentioned usually have bad players buying in for at least $500 each time. If you aren't comfortable playing for pots sometimes exceeding $1000, then find a deep 1/2 or 1/3 table and make your money that way.

I was tossed between the Venetian, MGM and Caesars for a 1/2 Thursday night - Friday night ~ 20 hour session. Unsure which one to pick, or just keep moving between them

I think the MGM is great because it is right in the middle of everything ... lots of foot traffic, which yields itself well to people spontaneously deciding to play some poker.

Basically anything on the strip though -- plenty of tourists and the $1/2 games are usually super soft!

So would MGM be a better bet than Venetian?

Imperial is softest, I would try Aria, never been there but gonna try it my next trip, Venitian is alright, Wouldn't go to Bellagio or Wynn.

We're talking about 1/2NL, it's all the same.

They are all soft. It is rare to sit down at a $1/2nl game and say, "damn, I got a tough table."

In the 1 in 45,364 times that this happens, just stand up and switch tables.

This guy just don't get it. Go sit & play 1/2 wherever, if your game sucks get up and find a better one. If you've never been to Vegas, check out the V, as it's the consensus best poker room, although maybe not the softest games.

Yea 1/2 is the same almost everywhere you go. Just check out different rooms, and go with what you feel is the most comfortable.

Sorry about that. First time, so was a bit curious. I do agree it's a very subjective topic, so it would make sense for me to go there and then figure out what works best. Thanks for your suggestions.

If you don't want to leave once casino, either MGM, V or Bellagio. They'll have plenty of games running in case you find a tough table. Otherwise, pick a spot and try it. If you don't like it, walk down the street.

OK it's not really true that 1/2 is very soft everywhere. More accurately, it's random. It's soft in general, but where a soft game will be and where a tough game will be (yes you can find tables with enough good players that you wouldn't want to play at that table) can't be predicted. The best advice, then, is to go to a room with multiple tables so you can move if you're at a bad one. Alternatively, go where there are other casinos the shortest walk away, if your casino only has 1 table going and it sucks.

I've found very soft games at every single place I've played, and I've found good players at every single place I've played. It's very random, but you can't go wrong if you just pay attention.

If you think about it, it has to be this way. If there were truly fishy games specifically in a couple places, then better players would find out and just go there and within a week these things would all even out.

I was at this interesting table at the Bellagio one time. Really really tight. You could just steal, steal steal. I remember one guy in particular who would raise on the button literally with any 2 cards, every single rotation. And everyone folded to him every single time. It was an easy table to just sit back, relax and make $20/hr simply by picking a few places to steal pots. Just take turns with the 2 or 3 other players who knew what was going on. But that's not normal.

If you have to steal the 3$ to win then you're in the wrong game.

Bally's is very soft, but not really much of a room. It is a space near the pits (and a bar, great drink service) with about 8 or so tables if I had to guess. The 1/2 games there are filled with tourists and recreational players.

Happy Hunting!
