1/2 at IP after 10:00 is the best poker game you'll ever play in. Period.

If you don't want to slum it, go to MGM.

This is true.

But, again, the best 1/2 in Vegas is the one w/ the open seat.

Didn't notice any black kid on her tip box but she wore her hair kinda like layered in the back and seemed very stuck up and not too happy.

if you can tell by the title in the thread that it's been asked before, don't read it and quietly move along.

okay so I'm gonna be in vegas for 2 nights in a few days with ze GF and ze parents (we re from germany and cruising through the southwest). Ze GF probably wants to play some slot machines and I have to win enough to cover her and my parents losses / show expenses. Which casino is good to keep them entertained and me winning? Also, (I know there is probably a faq for this but meh) any guidelines on tipping and potential free/cheap drinks/food for players?

cheers

If you're gambling, drinks are free. Just make sure you tip the waitresses, $1/drink is a pretty standard tip for a normal person at a small limit table, and if I'm running well or the waitress has brought me multiple drinks in a short amount of time, I'll tip $2-3/drink.

Food in vegas is anywhere from almost free, to more expensive than your hotel, up to you.

I was at the Venetian a few months back and played a deepstack tournament there. I saw a waitress across the room and thought she looked familiar and said the name to myself. When she got to our table it was this girl who I went to high school with here in VA. She didn't look that good back then but was still wasn't bad. We had a couple classes together and caught up just a little. Small world.

Only thing I don't like about the Bally's game is $5 max rake and $1 jackpot. I'm sure the rake will be that high everywhere in the future.

Rio poker room is 10% $4 max + $1, no BBJ or high hand jackpots, except for a royal flush, which is currently about $11k. Rio poker room 3/6 FL has a $5 + $1

Caesars is 10%, $4 max, + $1, with high hand jackpots for quads or better. However, their 2/5 NL is 5%, $4 max, + $1. 5/10 NL is $6pp per 1/2 hour, with no jackpot dollar taken, thus 5/10 players are ineligible for high hand bonuses.

Not sure about the other Harrahs properties. Hope this helps.

There was always a substantial amount in the pot before the pot becasue of the size of the blinds. I really enjoyed that game and did well at it. This was a few years ago but there was a good mix of tourists and a few locals all trying to grind it out against one another. The action was good. I am not up to date on the best Vegas places for $1/$2 but I really lilked this game at Mandalay Bay.

Wow, how is it possible to beat a 10% rake? I've only ever played online. I'd like to play some live at the smallest stakes but unless I run like God the rake seems frightfully high.

There is no way I'm rolled for 2/5 anytime soon.

I played at PH during last years WSOP...I expected every room to be tougher because the WSOP but PH was a dream. I was staying at Bellagio, played at MGM, Bellagio, Paris, and PH. I could have skated back to my room on the racks I picked up at PH. There were two people talking about going pro, three people talking about playing in the WSOP, and each one of them ended there senteces with a reflex HEE HAAAAWWW.

Here in Midwest, everything is either $4 + $1 with 10% or $5 + $1. I assure you, they are very beatable. You don't understand how bad some of the players are.

A woman who is that stunning is most likely to be stuck up. She probably gets hit on constantly and can virtually get any guy she wants.

For a really fun, unique experience, try getting drunk and playing at the imperial palace after midnight. Imperial palace is probably the fishiest 1/2 game because there are no regulars at all.
i'll second this. True. Thick fish at the IP after midnight.

I'm sorry guys if this has been discussed at length, I did search and couldn't really find the info I was looking for. I'll be staying at Mandalay Bay from Sept. 1-3 (Tuesday through Thursday). I plan on playing $1-$2NL, maybe $2-$4 NL during the day and going out in the evenings. I'm not opposed to tournaments if need be, but I definitely prefer cash games. Where can I find a good, soft, low limit NL cash game during the week?

Thanks so much, and once again, I apologize if I'm posting something that has been done to death already.

MGM is a good choice and close to Mandalay Bay. Harrah's and Caesar's are good for middle of the strip.

Does Mandalay's poker room suck, then? What are the games like during the day on a weekday?

The players are really just that bad. Lowest rake in Vegas I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is $3+1 at 10% at The Orleans. Last I was there they lowered it to $1+1 when the table was less than 6 handed (only happens very late at night/early in the morning but I thought it was nice nonetheless).

In a couple of the other threads of this ilk people were saying the games there are bad, and maybe they are compared to some other 1/2 rooms. I will say than in my experience if you're a winner online at 10NL/25NL you should be fine, 50NL+ and you should crush: esp. from 11p-4a.

It happens to be run by the most irritating d-bags that I have ever seen. Aside from the people and the wood ring tables, the physical room itself is fine. Great level floor, 3 good walls, chairs to sit in, a ceiling that keeps out the desert sun.

Approximately identical to every 1/2 nl weekday game in Las Vegas.
