Re: Commerce Casino (Los Angeles, CA) Poker Thread

1/2 in L.A. is tough because of the HUGE rake. It's basically a scam. If you have to play I'd go to Hustler because I think you can buy in a little deeper. Or play 2-3 at the Bike (100-300 buy in).

I believe the L.A. casinos cap the buy-ins so low so the terrible players dont go broke quickly and can sit there paying the rake for longer.

2/3 100-300 at the bike is the best deal as far as BB to Buy In... and the drop...

Bike = No Flop = $1
Commerce = No Flop = $2 in $100 or $200 games...

I also heard that pechanga has a good 1/2 and 2/3 deep buyins with the smaller drops.

I know it's not in LA but it's about and hour the the east.

Re: Commerce Casino (Los Angeles, CA) Poker Thread

Pechanga has the nicest looking poker room in SoCal...

I dont remember what their drop is... their jack pots are AAAJJ beaten... Good food...

The thing I HATE about it though, is if you are up in the red chip games up on the podium... that big stadium LED tv thing in the middle flashes on you and it just makes me dizzy...

But if I am going to be at Pechanga or Rincon, id rather play Video Poker...

Re: Commerce Casino (Los Angeles, CA) Poker Thread

Pechanga NLHE is *not* deep buyin. 1/2 $60 maxbuy in. Not sure what the 2/3 is, but I believe $100. Rake is 4/1 ($1 for BBJ). Two BBJ's. The "mini" jackpot, which is AAAJJ beaten, and the big ($30K) jackpot which is quads beaten.

Twenty minutes further south is Pala, where 1/2 NLHE is a $40 - $200 buy in. 4/1 rake, but no flop means no drop. Only problem with Pala is not as much action as Pechanga. Oh - and the Poker Room is *much* nicer at Pala than Pechanga (IMHO)

I am probably wrong, my friend told me that they had a 2-3 with 300 max but he also said he was really drunk abd they cut him off. So maybe he just dropped 300 at the 1-2 in 60 increaments wouldn't be suprised lol.

Re: Best 1/2 NLHE in LA (Cali.)?

I made this a thread? Thought I asked about this in a different thread not wanting to spam forums....
Thanks for the info folks.

I might have to go to LA to give my dog to a friend Was wondering about small stakes NLHE out there. Playing a 100 max with a 6 dollar rake seems like a waste of equity to me...

Correct. Pechanga is 1/2 NL (Using 1$ chips only) with 40 - 100 buy in.

As far as I remember, at Pechanga if it's 7 handed or less you can steal the blinds preflop and they don't take anything (sometimes it varies though depending on day of the week....I'm dead serious)
If u steal the blinds with 8-9 handed they only take 1$.

If you're 9 handed and see a flop, they take at least 4$ cant quite remember but it's not as horrendous as some other places like Morongo.

Not in LA proper. Pala in North San Diego Co has 1/2 $40 - $200 buy in.

Pala's 2/3 game is $100-$500, and their 2/5 game is $300-$1500.

Pechanga's 2/5 game is $400 max, i think?

I am spoiled playing in San Diego. went up to commerce for the first time last week and about puked to find out that the $100 game is 2/3.

Re: Best 1/2 NLHE in LA (Cali.)?

I bought into the $100 game thinking it was 1/2 and my first hand was 44. Guy raises to 12$ and me thinking it was 6x the blind was like what I fold. Woulda flopped quads lol

Trip to LA is starting to look very likely. 2/5 $400 sounds like a good place to throw away my money.

If you're thinking about Pechanga, just know that it's about 80 miles east of LAX.
