Proceeds of Crime Act (UK money laundering) legislation is likely a partial reason for your ban. It is highly likely that you were gambling with your illegally obtained cash. The casino is under a legal obligation to report any suspicions on you gambling with such cash. If they don't, then they can get prosecuted. You're not worth the risk. Even though poker isn't a game against the house, it still counts.

It is irrelevant to your case that another known convicted fraudster also plays at the casino, even though it lacks the appearance of fairness.
