sure so how would this work?

two people show up to the poker room, ask to be seated next to each other

then one of them or both either palm their cards and fake muck every hand or both stay in the hand till the river in hopes that their combined hand gives them the winner (while communicating cards to each other) and none's the wiser?

then while running this sophisticated clandestine operation at a critical moment one of them asks another to table his hand? potentially blowing the lid on the whole thing for having at best a single 50/50 shot of claiming the pot?

I'd say they deserve the money

this also begs the question: if someone is that good at sleight of hand why would they need a partner? just palm your neighbor's discards and table whatever hand you need

It's probably good I don't try to run this scam, because I would slow down showdowns rummaging around in my pile of accumulated cards to find the hand I want to show down. Or maybe that should be my partner's job before he tables my hand.

More seriously haven't there on occasion been partnerships adept enough to signal and then swap cards during the hand? But as you say they'd never dream of tabling one another's hands.

The idea of stealing cards from a casino is crazy. They would literally notice on the very next shuffle due to the shufflemaster/deckmate machines.
