2/5 games running consistently closest to the Kansas City area? 2/5 games running consistently closest to the Kansas City area?

I will be moving to the KC area for a new job soon and playing poker on the side.

How often are Hollywood KC and Harrah's spreading 2/5?

Unless the local games run Friday night, and most of Saturday & Sunday (and hopefully some weeknights) ... seems like my options to put in volume are going to be really limited.

Are there other casinos within a 6 hour drive that consistently spread 2/5 or higher? I was also thinking of getting an unlimited flight pass and just flying to Vegas on weekends where it's available (still have to do the math on that).

Of course there is also online - which will likely be my main go to.

Both Harrah's and Hollywood run 2/5 on the weekends. The latter more consistently and occasionally 5/10 if there's something happening at the Speedway. I think Hollywood also has 2/5 on weekdays now but I haven't been.

Vegas is pretty straightforward. 3h nonstop Southwest or Spirit. The latter has a Sunday night return flight that leaves around 1-1:30AM and gets you to KC around 6AM and you can tell a lot of passengers are heading straight to work. MCI is one of the airports where you can arrive 15mins before boarding. Uber is $30-60 depending on where you want to go in the metro.

Driving: if you don't care about speed limits you can get to Choctaw and Winstar in the OK/TX border area in 6h.

I found there is a Frontier flight that comes up on their “GoWild” pass heading out to Vegas some weekends and also that return Spirit flight you mentioned (thanks for the tip). That makes it around $180 round trip … plus hotel and the annual cost of that Frontier pass (honestly that deal is good enough for visiting family more often … in addition to poker maybe shouldn’t even count it as a cost or minimally so)

I think the math would work out, if I can manage to put in some long sessions.

Man, that red eye flight kinda sucks though. At the same time guess it’s kind of nice, since you maximize your time out there. Going to look into whether that flight is canceled often.

Unless something changed recently the Frontier flights aren't nonstop. A stopover probably more than doubles your trip time.

The Spirit night flight has never been cancelled on me but I've only taken it a couple times since COVID. I also don't have to be anywhere on Monday morning and can easily cancel my virtual meetings. If you have to be in the office that's obviously a relevant concern.

FWIW, depending on where you're going to live in the metro, Hollywood might be a pretty long drive distance wise. Harrah's is just north of downtown. Which might mean traffic. Airport is 30mins+ for everyone unless you live right at the interstate or North of the river.

Hollywood will be closer to me. I’m probably going to be in OP area. As long as 2/5 runs often there probably will just go there. Didn’t realize 5/10 runs at all.
