I have been seeing a game called 2-5 Congress on the Bravo Website for the Choctaw Casino in Durant OK. Can someone explain what it is? It isn't 2-5 NL because they have those games going at the same time. Google is not my friend on this one.

I believe it is 5 card Omaha aka Big Mit.

Yes, I asked about this as well. It is five-card Omaha.

Seems to only be played when the big tourneys are up there as well.

Congress Poker Rules:

The players arbitrarily divide up into the left half and right half of the table, and then angleshoot each other until everyone else in the casino is sick of their **** and start demanding they kick the incumbent players off the table. But as soon as someone leaves, they hand a big stack of money to their children, protoges, or financial backers, and declare whoever has the most money gets the seat. The side that wins is the side that funnels the most money off the rake into its financial backers' pockets. The game ends when the casino is bankrupt.

I played this on St. Patrick's Day at Grand Casino in OK. Incredibly sick/swingy, was fortunate enough to win a lot. It's a lot of fun to play, but I have nowhere near the roll to play this regularly. Might be fun for a low stakes home game for me or the very rare live session.

This is commonly called 'Big O' as well ... Hi-Lo Ohmaha with 5 cards

It's a good thing that hands take forever since the swings are huge ... lots of 1/4, 1/2 and other chopping of pots.

I had the nut straight all-in on the Turn and got 1/6 of the pot!! 2 other guys had the same straight and one of them hit a low hand on the River. Try that on for size!! GL

I'm actually a big fan of encouraging people to use Google so I think it's funny but not surprising this is now what comes up when you Google "congress poker tournament." (Choctaw Durant is still using the name on their WPT schedule sheet without explanation, which is really annoying.)

LMGTFY usually ends up with two dozen people in the thread telling me I'm a jerk because it's more socially acceptable to waste people's time than to ask someone not to waste people's time but if you know any socially acceptable ways to say, "I'm not demeaning you but you could really find that information if you spent 30 seconds looking," I'm all ears.

But mostly I'm glad the OP didn't use Google because we'd never have seen callip's post. BUMP!

If it's 2-5 I'd assume it's big bet, and since it's Omaha I'd assume it's PL rather than NL.

Correct, PL. One of my most amazing cash game hands ever came in this sick game. Flop is 557, I have A235Q, end up all in on the flop for a $1k pot. Loving my hand with top trips plus the uncounterfeitable nut low draw. We don't expose our hands, and the board runs out freaking 7-7. So I don't make my low, AND my trips are useless, I am now playing my AQ for high with the trip 7s on board. I SCOOP, opp had A356J, so he had the same trips, 2nd nut low draw, but now is playing AJ high haha. All he needed was 22 in his hand to scoop.

Sick hand

But wouldn't a rubout of 2,3 for example give you a worse low than someone with ace 4?
