Has anyone played at the Nautica Charity Poker in Cleveland since they've changed the location and moved to a rake as aopposed to a seat fee? If so, how are the games?

Yes, the new location is like a footbal field away from the last room. New room is nice for a chairity room. They have like 30 tables which are always full. Also they have about 20 flat screens tvs. its in the same building at McCartys bar. This is nice becuase more people are drinking.(you can't drink at the table). Players come with a lot of money to lose. If you get AA raise to like 50 preflop. If you make it like 15 you'll get 5 callers. People aren't going to fold let me tell you!

ALso Adam Junglen was playing 2/5 here like 2 weeks ago.

Prob see Ivey next lol

I played like absolute garbage today and got 10th in this.

Also I had Maros move to my left in a cash game on Thursday, he's a regular at the 1/2 games there.

I got Koed in 14th place. Had such terrible cards on day 2. Were you at the table by the door for the one in the middle. what did 10th pay? Who won it?

where is parking at for this? i liked the gated lot at the powerhouse. i've never been to mccarthy's so are you still parking in the same lot?

i hate that neighborhood and am just curious the likelihood of me getting raped, robbed or maybe, more realistically, my car broken into.

I was at the one in the middle, closer to the desk to start the day, Table 10 seat 1 until that table broke. Then I got moved to the other middle one, seat 3, then at the FT was seat 5. I was the heavier-set guy with glasses, brown shirt, and Bose headphones on. I got $800 for 10th. The guys who won were the shorter guy with the beard and short hair, big Ray-Bans on, had a blue striped shirt yesterday and a plaid one today, and the guy with the short black hair and trimmed goatee (I don't remember much else about how he looked, I saw him for like 4 hands at the FT before I busted and hadn't played at all with him the entire tourney until then.) That is about as specific I can be without giving names which I'm not supposed to post, but if you know people there by their names then just PM me for the names. They both play the tournaments there a decent amount. I know one of them took the seat, not sure if the other did.

I still park in the gated lot at the Powerhouse. If you go into that lot and turn left as soon as you see a driveway after the gate, park as close to the building and the far street as possible. Then just walk around the corner to the left and it's right there. I've personally never had any problems in that parking lot. For a while you could park right across the street from the bar, but they chained that lot off. They were charging $3 anyway, so I'd rather have the illusion of security for the same price in the gated lot.

I park on the street behind the poker room. Its free and always an open spot. I always walk into the bar and out the bar door so people dont think im a poker player with cash on me. Any ways seems pretty safe. But i do get into my car and lock doors right away. Standard when ever i got cash on me.

Also Im the guy who always wheres the black Jordan hat and eye glasses (not sun glasses) Say hi if you see me!

I think we might have sat next to eachother the first day before the last table change. Were you the guy with the old microsoft mp3 player? I forgot the actual name of the mp3 player.

Yeah, I definitely have an old school 30gb Microsoft Zune and was showing it off at that table. I'm the one who checked out of turn in that big pot you were in with the middle pair of tens holding vs the flush draw. Sorry about that, haha.

I'm normally down there a couple nights per week, but I'll be taking some time off after this tournament.

Also Nautica posted a picture/names of the winners of the tournament on their website. It's probably a good link to have in this thread too, in case anybody wants some more information about the room.

Thought that was you. I was sitting to your direct right when showing your mp3 player. Good for you u made the money gl in the future

Also, I don't understand why this tourney didn't have antes at some point. Very strange. 30k starting stakes was nice but probably to much really. Field was sickly soft. Probably will play it again. Beats driving to Pittsburgh and wasting money on gas and hotel imo.

I've never played a tourney there with antes, but it definitely would be great if they had them, especially for the Team Cleveland tourneys. I'm used to the super quick structure of the daily ones, so it was nice to have a deep stack and play a lot more pots at the beginning.

I'm sorry to see you didn't make the FT too, from the little bit we played together I think you played pretty well. Best of luck to you in the future, I'll probably see you when I head back to the 1/2 tables in a month or so.

For anybody else reading this, feel free to say hello if you see me. I'll be the chubby guy with silly internet/2p2-speak baseball caps and wacky T-shirts. I'll probably be checking in on this thread every once and a while now too, so I'll do my best to answer any questions people may have about playing at Nautica.

LOL yeah no big deal actually worked to my advantage. Im sure if i led out dude with flushdraw goes all in and put me in a bad spot for all my chips. Would probably folded since i had such a weak hand. Had killer read on the one seat thats why i pushed.

Also the really short and fat lady in like the 5 seat(looks like a penguin with a mullet) was calling everyones outs vs my all ins. Had no history with her. And almost went off on her after the 4th time. All i said was didn't know you were in the hand calling for that 5. It was so strange. Her and the one seat hated me for rasing every pot and playing supper aggro. Still not a reason to act like an ass imo.

When the place opens till 10pm is the best imo. After 10pm people go crazy. Meaning all they want to do is play huge pots and gamble like mad men. Also theres only one cashirs window. The line get huge when the place closes. The website link is in this thread with all the info on cash and tourenys. The room has just under 30 tables and are always filled. I can't believe somethime how many people in Cleveland are playing cards and have so much money to lose. Its a good time. If you haven't been there in a while the room is in a new location. Alot of flat screens tvs and all tables have autoshufflers. The rake is fair in cash games, maybe about 5% to high for tourneys. Its well worth playing there due to the closeness. Screw wasting 3 hours both ways to Pitt or Detroit, when ull been down 100 bucks or so in gas just for driving.. Dont forget tolls!!

Depends if you can switch gears up or not IMO and know how to change the values of certain hands in your range. Also, if you are rolled for the game there is no need to wait in line. Color up to quarters with someone in line, put them in your pocket, and come back the next day. Same as cash for anyone playing 5-6 days a week.

Yes, they are still terribad and the players need to run the games essentially. However, the winrate is more than worth it. If you are playing purely for enjoyment though I see how it wouldn't be.

Unfortunately, they only took pictures of the top 2 that won the seats, so I'm not in it. I asked for a giant check for the 10th place mincash, but they said no.

The dealers are still volunteers as others have said, but most of them are competent enough to deal cards, and the players control the pot and the action. I'd say you can still get in at least 20 hands per hour on average.
