What is or was your longest downswing? - Page 3 - Psychology in Poker and Gambling

a little over a year now... got all my money out and decided to start grinding the micros and slowly build my way up.

still nothing. down to my last 600 online. gonna transfer sites and see where i go from there. after this it is good bye poker for me.

That is BS sir. It's very possible to run so bad you break even over 20k hands. I have broke even over 100k hands and I'm a 4bb/100 winner over 500k hands before that.

Guy who says longest down swing was 5 BI is just full of it. I've lost 10 stacks in a row with flopped sets vs one pair hands. I've lost more than 10 preflop allins in a row with AA vs KK. In my current streak people have hit somewhere around 96-98% of their back door flush draws in 40+ allin situations. In cashgames there are mitigating factors such as picking up free money. In sitngoes I regularly have 30 BI down swings and I have a ROI well over 20%.

THERE IS NO LIMIT TO HOW BAD YOU CAN RUN. One day you will get humbled...

My last BE stretch was 72 BI's downer over ~65k hands. In PLO is is fairly common to run that bad.

downswings are where you play your best...and imo can be very enjoyable as long as finances are all in place

casual conversation about downswings can be fun, and it seems like that was the point of this thread.

But when conversed seriously, when someone asks me "Am I just on a downswing" my answer is always "Don't worry about it. Just make sure you're properly rolled for the stakes you're playing, make sure you're supplementing your play with reviewing your database and posting hands where there was a decision you weren't sure about, and keep improving. Poker is just a game after all."
