Weed is gift from nature. No harm. It expand consciousness if usen properly. Klearly not for 92.5%+ of people. The 'high' depends on YOU.

Anxiety, paranoia, what elze. Not weed. YOU

Regarding the "weed doesn't change you, it is who you ARE why you experience negative consequences when smoking" thing... Wasn't it earlier said ITT that if you smoke pot, your feelings and thoughts etc. will be amplified? Than if you're in general a lazy person, wouldn't pot make it only worse? Ofc this would be also true for the opposite, if you're in general a pretty active person, pot would make you even more active.

I have no idea if the above is true (I barely smoke) but am curious to know. It kind of would solve all the discussion around the whole "pot makes me more/less productive" thing, no?

I can smoke for a full week on $20. $20 can barely get me over the legal limit at most bars.

The Good: relaxes me, things are more entertaining or funny. Sex is great. Gaming is more fun. Lifts spirits If I've had a long stressful day.

The Bad: It's illegal (here) and a hassle to get. In excess amounts or with more potent strains, I sometimes get paranoid or experience anxiety. Sometimes the next morning I experience a brain fog and lethargy until I get a cup of joe in me. It doesn't last long, maybe an hour.

This is just my thoughts^^ YMMV

I agree, that's why I listed it in The Bad section.

Re: Smoking weed good and bad

Hello,

I used to be able to play like tens (30,40) of HU some years ago. I just grinded it. But not at home, I was at my GF then.

Situation is, at home it's almost impossible for me to play and maybe I have this unconcious fear that has build from the home pressure. By this I mean everyone at home, from parents to grand-parents, hate seeing me playing it. They will talk to me - disturbing me, they will express negativity, they will load me with some stuff needed to do, etc.

I also smoke a lot of weed. Not the strong ones, not so much during the day, but at the night when I play poker. I always used to smoke while playing. It's a big habbit.

So I play from 10pm on (till 3-5am), when everyone is basicly asleep. It's because both - poker&weed. It's kind of hidding from everyone to play in peace state. But the "net" play is probably 2 hours, not more. I sleep from 4am to 2pm. I have like no reason to wake up earlier, even if I do, and I do firstly wake up earlier most of the time.

I also see it's really overwhealming for me from the emotional part. A few Sit&Goes and I definitly need a break. HU's even a bigger problem. 3 in a row and I like ... DIE. It's like my mind is saying "stop, you can't make another hour lasting sit and go. You won't be able to have the motivation and concentraion needed!!".

I also do a lot of things at the same time. Was thinking of getting the tablet to just have a pokerstars open, laptop closed somwhere, and freaking grind it.

But, I always hated to work 8 hours. Did a lot of job, but rarely felt into the zone. If possible, I ended job before 8 hours ended usualy. I have a rushing mind, overthinking a lot, maybe a bit of anxiety, and a lot of impulsitivity and stilness problems.

Plus, those fears and because of that, bad self esteem. Maybe I don't only have fear becaue of pressure in the house, but also because the body remembered poker is hard for me from the emotional point of view.

... but my true self WANTS to play, my biggest wish is to play 10 hours daily if possible, to leave everything behind. So I definitly ain't thinking about quitting it.

Did anyone expirence some similiar problems? Any advice for me, maybe? I am reading 7 habbit of highly succesfull people, and have a bunch of good reviewed books downloaded, but I like never finnish a book, anyway.

What I am about to say may sound kind of strange, but if I ever get substantially stoned then I have this horrifying and hideous feeling of deep emotional pain in the pit of my stomach.

Thats the best way I can describe it, it is very real and almost agonizing.

Some strains can make you coach-locked, therefore motivation is lower. Some sorts can make you paranoid. Both should be smoked in really small quantites.

Smoking too much at once can make you over-euphoric, or having short intervals make you exhausted. Both things to watch for.

Smoking while not feeling at least 7/10, will produce paranoid or any other unpleasant feelings. It's better to continue whatever you doing untill you feel fine enough to know you will be OK.

Right help from the weed should arive as motivation boost, deleting every disturbing thought and making you concentrate and be creative in the game.

Post some "empirical evidence" here and I'll read them. Unless I'm just some freak of nature that can smoke weed daily and get a ton accomplished.

I have written some of the reasons. I think these are well known facts.

The isssue is more complex, and therefore cannot be disscused just because one smokes and one don't ... this won't produce good arguments.

Probably you think the dissadvantages of purely smoking regulary/every day regarding brain chemistry changing. That is an important factor to look around if you smoke through entire day, otherwise looking after short-term factor problems should be enough IMO.

Any ideas about my psychological problems? Maybe I was a bit lazy not opening now thread - I connected my problems with weed thread, so not another thread would be needed. Opening one would be the right thing. Pardon.

Hi, I'm 25 yo from Holland/ The Netherlands. As you may know smoking weed is aloud here. I smoked weed for ~5 years and I'm very happy that I'm off it. I got very paranoid of it. Sonetimes I even walked on the street and thought people were looking at me like it was a complot.. I can only tell u: stop smoking it more than 1× per 4-5 months.. when u quit ur mind starts to work normally again. You'll start dreaming again and solve psychological problems again. The 5 years that I smokes (1-2 gram a day strong skunk) are lost years I'll never get back. I was too scared to hang out with girls and I rejected every possible chance in that period. Now (25yo) I'm still studying and struggle a lot. I sometimes think it is all a reaction from the weed during that days..

Re: Smoking weed good and bad

As Joe Rogan says: If you're a loser because of pot, pot just got there first.

If you weren't hanging out with women for 5 years, why did you go on so long? I know if I noticed negative side effects I'd be trying to find the culprit.

Regarding the paranoia, these symptoms do exist in some people. Anytime you're altering your brains chemistry, that may happen. For me if I smoke hash I feel paranoid, but when I remind myself that it's just a side effect of the drug, I quickly embrace the great feelings from the cannabis. Unfortunately, not everyone who uses cannabis is intelligent enough to do this. In fact, unless you're intelligent, if weed makes you feel paranoid, I would suggest you just quit.

Im not sure if simply being intelligent is enough to counteract feelings of paranoia.

I used to enjoy it but to be honest it just stresses me out too much. Instead of chilling I worry about stupid **** when I blaze and basically don't enjoy it like I used to.

Re: Smoking weed good and bad

Well, I have no proof that it requires intelligence to remove these paranoid feelings. I'm just basing it on my experience. I do know some productive people who smoke pot daily and still don't get paranoid thoughts. Personally I've taken a year off, 6 months off and so on, so maybe the time away is partly responsible.

durango you hit on a very good point.

In high school I never got paranoid when I was baked. We'd be in Tim Hortons munching out, being loud and laughing our asses off. And slowly over time it's like that type of fun goes away. I went through a spell of about 6 months or so where I'd get baked, and feel anxious and wish I wasn't baked anymore. I mentioned it to someone else and they said to just remind yourself that you've just taken a drug. I started doing that, and it's like the brain goes "oh yeahhhh" and turns the panic button off.

Re: Smoking weed good and bad

When I am high and I try to remind myself Im ripped my brain does not stop with the paranoid thoughts. As a matter of fact, I start to think that the weed is what is bringing me to reality, and I am somehow oblivious to all of it when sober.

And the truth is, who is to say that is wrong?

Re: Smoking weed good and bad

The more weed you smoke the less paranoia you deal with. When you start blazing all day again and developing a tolerance the paranoia starts to go away.

A great way to get paranoid is to smoke for a while, then quit for a while, then take a fat rip.
