Self-control when on tilt? Self-control when on tilt?

This video popped up on my feed:

I see that a lot of pros can't control themselves when they lose. What's your take on this, should we always check and control our emotions, or just release that anger immediately before we move to the next hand?

when people are releasing anger in these clips.. these are responses that they can't control .. the emotions aren't the issue.. it is the cause of these emotions that is most important..

yup it's about self-control and self-knowledge which is not so much in the poker knowledge realm

A "Should"-based understanding can never tackle the issue of tilt.

It's very simple. No psychology no mambo jambo theories. Just take a walk at the casino watch the pretty ladies at the slot machines and at the roulette and after 2 minutes go back. As simple as that. It's good for adrenaline release. When you go back it's like you restart yourself.

It's all about getting used to losing in life.

In Poker, you lose ALOT. You just gotta get back up again and on to the next pot. Unless you just blew your rent money, there will always be more pots to play.

it took me a while to realize that a huge part of the 'skill' side of poker is being able to handle loses gracefully. many great players dont succeed simply because they cannot handle the ridiculous beats, and they blast their rolls out.

when i lose in ridiculous ways i try to remind myself that there are very few people who could handle this kind of punishment in any area of life, even poker players. if you can take those brutal loses and keep coming back for more that says a lot about your character imo.

ultimately you just have to trust the numbers. if you have 90% equity and get sucked out on, 90% of that pot still belongs to you. ten thousand hands from now you will have that 90%, and justice will be served

a win is when you get your chips in against the opponents range when your ahead or successfully make your opponent fold his range when your behind.

focus on getting the correct reads on your opponents and making the correct play rather than the actual result of who wins the pot.

if you find two minutes good, try 10. It gets totally out of your system, you come back mentally fresh, and you have exercised.

I find it difficult 10 minutes especially when there are amateur calling stations at the table, because until i go back maybe someone else take their money.

In the meantime is your decision making clear and sharp?

You tilt because you Suffer. You Suffer because Expectations were not met. If you expected to lose, you would not tilt.

Practice letting go of expectations by being aware of them. Make plays for the play's own sake, and not it's result. Put your phone down, observe others and yourself, be aware of yourself and your thoughts, make good decisions, and let the cards dictate the results.

I try not to let them see me sweat. It's about being good for the game and losing it is never good for the game. The game is what it's about. Me letting off steam i can do later.
