Perhaps that is why I may steer away from the fundamentals, and go for more bluffs. Perhaps it is because of my lack of patience during a half hour of unsuited gapers, a bit of "Poker After Dark 5bet pre-flopping" creeps into my brain. I think this feeling of boredom is normal for poker players, but is poker at every stake a boring game? Would you say the person who is less deterred by boredom is an underrated factor in winning long term?

This is the opposite of other table games like Chess, where there is never a dull moment, playing or watching it. I come from a sports background, so I am used to action. My disposition is naturally assertive, which is why I tend to go for bigger pots in poker. I know Phil Ivey is considered an aggressive player, yet appears so bored as he plays. This might be a bad example, but he seems so bored at times. Perhaps it doesn't affect his decision making.

Try playing Mixed Games perhaps, or Omaha with 5 cards?

Live or online? Online you can just pull up more tables. Live, yes dealing with boredom is important. The reason OMCs inhabit every poker room in the world is the live low stakes poker rewards patient disciplined nits.

Online you can of course open more tables. Or if you want to stay focused on one table you can play one table of zoom/blitz/rush/fastforward. You even have Zoom tournaments on Pokerstars if you prefer tourneys.

Never played live, but maybe you can chat with others at the table? Maybe order a sandwich?

20 BB deep stacks in mtt's is a very exciting game especially when there is a trophy to be won at the end of the tournament. Earlier stages can be less exciting especially if you go card dead which happens.

Every fish plays for the excitement. Every reg eventually gets bored with the game. I think it's why the top guys end up getting good at other variants of poker to deal with the boredom.

Have you tried preparing your session by focusing in on 1 aspect of your strategy to finetune that part of your game? In combination with studying, I have seen that to work with several players when the boredom kicks in. Shorter sessions could help also if the boredom kicks in after 2-3 hours.
