Don't really have anyone to share with so seeking some advice. I receive SSI $880/month. Between rent and utilities I have no money left over. I'm concentrating on my health this year it's very important to me and don't need alot of extra money. But just being open about my situation because don't have anyone to talk to and need advice. I only need an extra $200 each month for expenses besides my SSI covering my rent and utilities. My goal is tojust play poker and save money and workout till I go back to school next fall. I just moved into a small apartment and need about $600 for necessities like a futon and tv. Also would like to purchase about $600 worth of clothes. But I'm having difficulties getting to that and it's frustrating me somewhat. I well I'm a confident player at higher stakes plo but being that I'm just chilling this year I would like to just grind ,10/,20 plo. What should be my plan I'm all over the place. Should I cash out Everytime I'm up $100 $50 towards my necessities and leave $50 for my bankroll? I need some structure. I'm worries because I have very low almost jon existent testosterone levels and if I'm not on the meds needed my focus hinders. So kind of just need advice that that seems like a good plan for my basic needs and that's beat plan for me. Very thankful for the reassurance that I'm being solid. Tyvm

If you don't have 10-20 buyins for the game, then the inevitable losing sessions are going to be very hard on you. So, I suggest you grind/save until you're properly rolled before thinking about pulling money out. If you can't get that much, then you might want to reevaluate your goals.

At this point, I'm not certain that your poker playing decisions should be much of a concern. You say that you have nothing left over after rent and utilities, and you "only" need an additional $200 per month for expenses. You don't say if you have other income or savings, so I don't know where that $200 is coming from.

I would suggest that income you have should go directly toward your expenses, and most of anything that is left over should be saved for emergencies - which will inevitably happen. I don't know anything about what you do on a day to day basis, but I can't see why you would need to buy $600 worth of clothes (maybe when you start school, but not right now).

If you can save a little each month, you could easily put a few buyins into poker. If you lose, then don't play again until you have saved money the next month. You don't need to have 10-20 buyins at once, as long as you are willing to stop playing until you have more. At that point, playing poker is just a hobby, and you aren't counting on it for income.

Also, if you are in the US or Canada, you should try Global Poker. They give you money to play with, and you could easily get enough to offset some of your other expenses.

Stop playing poker until you get your life sorted out. Poker should be considered a luxury for those with the bankroll to play. If you aren’t making ends meet and can’t afford clothing, you need to focus on those priorities first. Poker can wait.

Then you need at least $500 br and that's if you're good. The good news is 10/20plo is probably soft enough that you won't have the brutal swings of 25/50c games where you need at least 100 buys, but in PLO you can easily drop 10 buys in 10 mins so you need to be rolled.
