1. trying to only eat things ive never eaten before. will update how it goes

feel free to share your own goals. in attempt of sucking some motivation from online strangers

Won't you eventually run out of things to eat? I mean, there's only so much unique food available at your local store if you really want everything you eat to be something you've never eaten before. I think you'll go through fruits and vegetables especially fast. I'm such a motivator.

To what end? the essence of motivation is persistence at behavior to the extent that you believe the behavior will lead to desired outcomes or goals.

In order to improve your motivation, it's important you know the "what?" and "why?" for engaging in the behaviour.

so posting here did work for me. wanted eat one for the old familiar devils but resisted. several times just the thought of this thread kept me from it. some method are only effective in the starting phases but im counting on this one to last longer. so i didnt eat the burger i wanted. took a bus till inspiration descended. ate a mushroom. roll. it was disgusting. mission accomplished. the point of my rule to only eat new foods is to subside my addiction to my favorites. do you think i t will work or will i just get as addicted to trying new foods as i am now addicted to all my favorite junk foods?

This thread worked as motivation? Did you even READ this thread or is it just for you? Ate a mushroom? You've never eaten mushrooms before?

The answer is a resounding "YES".
But only if you are able to use your mind. It is the most powerful thing most of us have. If you think you can, you can.

What is it that motivates you? What do you really enjoy in life, what would you really enjoy having?

The world can be your oyster.

Take the day outdoors, get sunshine, it will make you feel better.
Drink water, it will keep you full to some degree, and also feel better.
Engage in activities that require focus to get your mind away from food.

And learn about gut microbiome, you probably have a big population there sending signals to your brain to get this and that right away.

What is the goal of this post?
Motivation is never consistent and never lasts long as a scientific fact.
The important thing is you grab as many motivational moments as possible and stay consistent with your goals - Don't let negative emotions and the inner voice get into you and delay you.
I can give eating fat food as an example - Whenever you want to binge on junk food - Hold yourself for 3 seconds and think about it - Believe me you will be able to control yourself much more.

To my point - Stay self aware and pause from time to time and just look at your actions - Don't let feelings control your actions. Go LONG TERM!

Repeat over and over I must I must improve my bust

But really keep saying to yourself over and over something that means something and helps you it works but it also takes living in the moment away as you are in one train of thought

Basically if you have a good mantra it helps but I also find it is mentally taxing.

That's more of an affirmation, essentially something you tell yourself to rewire the brain and stimulate a new emotional habit on a subject. A mantra is more like an eraser for a chalk board but for the brain, it allows you to just be with no thoughts of anything but the present.

I don't understand what OP is talking about with the food stuff. If you want motivation to play poker tho or grind any job especially when you're in a breakeven or downswing period and affirmation like "I make lots of money" or "wealth and abundance are mine" will take your focus off of the past losing results and let you look at the big picture more optimistically. It will eventually change your emotional momentum or habits as well.
