Can anyone help me with anxiety I get when playing live tournaments.

I play say an abi live of $400-500 and really don’t feel bad if I lose a buyin etc bc I play at a level I’m comfortable at. I still get a lot of anxiety though when playing live (I’m an anxious person who probably has social anxiety). Can someone help me come up with a way to be more relaxed at tourny tables? Even when I win a big pot say late in a tournament, I can have say 2-3x average in the money, I’m so nervous about making a big mistake and punting a stack or just running into a gross cooler, etc.

I feel I tend to remember really bad hands/ coolers from past tournaments and just the feeling soul crushes me. Maybe I just put too much pressure on myself and expect way too much (if I’m in the money, I really want to final table per se and play well). Is getting anxiety during live mtts normal? It’s odd bc I’ve played a lot online and even live compared to standard recs yet I freak out when I play live. I feel I understand most situations in poker and like what to do in most spots (I’m not perfect gto solver studier, but I feel I’m a much better player than the casual mtter that hasn’t studied). Thanks for any thoughts on this? Do I just say hey if I make a mistake or run poorly, it’s fine as the money really doesn’t matter to me and I’m just trying to play my best and put myself in a position to win?

Ask yourself, "How is being anxious helping me?"

When you realize it's not, turn it off. Poker is supposed to be fun. At these stakes no one is getting rich or going broke so it's rather inconsequential.

That is just my opinion.

You're not wrong, but it's a heck of a lot easier said than done.

Jkpoker10, I would suggest you look into meditation and breathing exercises. The idea isn't to align your chakras or whatever, it's to give you something to focus on. Having something you can control, that you can let yourself concentrate on, can do a world of good if you're an anxious person. This is not advice from personal experience, so take it with a grain of salt, but it is something that works for other people I know. I propose that it is worth exploring.
