You are not alone. You are good player and expect to win.

Keeping detailed records and reviewing them after disappointing sessions where I tilt a bit, or lose as big favor keeps my chin up.

I am $3 an hour average winning rec across all my poker, so, I know I am good enough to beat rakes, tips and the other players. Losing sessions is just part of math.

If you are keeping detailed record over a number of years, the variance should bother you less.

I'd like to voice my thoughts on a couple of the posts here if I may.

To Lagavulin, about losing after reading a poker book. This has happened to me also. I particularly went on a losing streak after reading Ed Mllers the 1%.
I'm not blaming Ed Miller or his book. I'm blaming myself.
I think what happened to me is, I tried applying the concepts in that book without fully understanding them.
I think this happens to a lot of us. We read a book and then try to apply our newfound knowledge at the tables without a proper grasp, or a true understanding. Without really having learnt the content properly.

To Dal, our op.
It seems you are in a very similar situation I'm in. You don't play enough.
Maybe you've been playing for many years. I was first introduced to poker in 1998. But it doesn't mean much if in those 20 years, you only play a few times a year. It doesn't matter how much one studies the game.
In order to be really good, assuming you have the smarts, you have to put the hours in. Otherwise it's pointless.

We all have to keep track of each session to be able to honestly evaluate ourselves as far as poker goes.

I think one thing to think about is how much you are willing to lose in a session that wont mess with my mind to much. people are so focused on winning but you need to be prepared to lose. I have a friend that doesn't want to lose more then 200 bucks a day online or it effects him and makes him move up in stakes to try to win the money back. But he wants to play 200nl. Its like well you can't play that high then. I taught him a well balanced short stack strategy at 100nl that is guaranteed to profit over the long run. And he enjoys playing every day now and if he loses 4 or 5 buyins its still within his 200 dollar threshold. You have to realistic with yourself with amount of risk you want to use on your br for a full session. I know some people it doesn't bother them if they lose 10k in a day they still sleep like a baby. It just depends your risk tolerance. Everyone is wired differently for that.
