So, this week I played these hands :
1) I had 42 and my opponent had 42. The flop was 42Q He completed hearts flush OTR
2) I had A7s and lost all in to 64s who completed straight by the river.
3) Lost aces to jacks
4) Lost A9s to J-rag, the flop was f***king JJJ. Everyone was astonished.
and numerous other hands.

So, what to do now? How to perceive this?

Without being rude, do you know what the exact probabilities are of 42s losing to 42o, A7s losing to 64s, AA losing to JJ and A9s losing to J-rag are?

By the way, the fact that the flop was JJJ is irrelevant. All that matters is what the probabilities were when the money went in.

study statistics. the best way to get over something is to understand it to a full extent. there's posters on here that could direct you to a more precise area of study.

Think big picture, long term, and forget about short term results. Bad beats and downswings are just part of the natural ebb and flow of tournament variance. Just learn to accept it and move on to the next tournament.

There are days when things go well and there are days when one loses to tiny chances and I have no problem with either one, as I have learned to take it w/o a bad effect or an effect at all, so no reaction. Then there are days when I can't win a hand so to say, and I rarely keep grinding it further but go play tourneys or something, if it was cash that was hitting the wall endlessly.

Learning statistics and probability makes things worse IMO, as I have known all that since day one and had to suffer a lot to get used to bad beats because of it. Now I am more used to it and there is no other way if I am to continue playing poker, so accepting any absurdity as it is about the long run and the score at the end of the month or so, so the variance can do whatever it wants as long as I keep beating the game.

Bad beats (at least the ones where you got it in ahead) mean: they played badly - you played better.
So overall you should like these situations because if they continue playing like they do (and they will because they just won) and you continue playing like you do you'll be, on average, be printing cheeseburgers.

That said...WTF are you playing garbage like 42s, A7s or A9s for?
