focusing on my strengths.. focusing on my strengths..

I'm going to make this as short as i can, because I could type forever. I've read in books ( non poker related) that strengths contain your greatest potential for growth. That you should focus on your strengths instead of your weaknesses.

My full table cash game is pretty good, my sit in go games are pretty good until it becomes heads up. I will place 2nd most of the time.

Every once in awhile i try HU cash games.. I never have a good session, EVER! So i stay away from them.

What I'm saying is. My HU game is terrible! I want to improve it and start reading some strategies for HU. I just didn't know if the first paragraph i typed implied to this? Should I try to improve it or just continue doing what I'm doing, because I'm still making pretty good money.

you definitely need HU knowledge and expirience too, especially if you play Sng, because otherwise you'll never finish 1st, maybe you could avoid it a bit by playing more cash games(FR, 6max), but still, HU game is vital in any form of game!

but as far as your strenghts, definitely find a form of game that suits you best, brings you best results and most importantlly makes you most comfortable.

If you can continue to develop your poker strengths while simultaneously learning HU strategy, that's ideal.

Say you take $1 out of every $10 you win and set it aside for HU play. You're still maintaining a good winrate, you've got the opportunity to practise your HU game and you're not risking much.

You tend to learn the basics of something very quickly, so it wouldn't be hard to pick up a decent grasp of HU in a short time. The rest is as much practise as it is reading. By contrast, you tend to improve on something you're already strong at relatively slowly, so even if your FR play doesn't improve quite as much as it otherwise would in the time period you'll still improve your overall game more by learning good HU strategy.

But do you enjoy HU play? Obviously you must work on it because you want to take first place. But really if you enjoy cash games more and seem to do much better there, I think you should stick with that.

Just keep playing the Sngs eventually your Hu play will improve. Analyze your play, post any Hu hands your unsure of in the STT section and start taking down those 1sts.
