Envy Tilt? Envy Tilt?

Has anyone been in games where huge sums of money are being transferred about a table and you keep getting J3, 2/5, 7/2 type hands and it's tilting? I try to be patient but it seems like sometimes I just can't get started in these games. It doesn't tilt me, tilt me I start trying to complete every SB with even complete junk and trying to crawl in on the button with questionable hands. I'd have to say its a form of tilt because I'm playing worse and I'm very envious of how well the other players are doing.

Which table would you prefer to be at: One full of nits where no one is winning, or the one you describe?

The one I describe yet these feelings of frustration I experience are by definition short-term. I have to alter my strategy.

One of the best things you can do for your poker game is stop comparing yourself to other players.

Of course it's hard, we naturally like to compare ourselves to others. But if you can learn to do it you'll be amazed at how much more you enjoy poker when you're not fixated on what cards other people are getting, how much they've won, how good they run, etc.

You're 100% right and I'm definitely open to any new ideas or new perspective, thanks

Concentrate on the ways in which each individual player is exploitable, and what strategies you might employ to exploit them, rather than stew about how you're not getting a chance. There's a million questions you can be asking yourself as to how to maximize your profits when you do eventually have a hand. Think "I haven't played many hands tonight, maybe I can squeeze wide here since my table image is tight and the caller/raiser is loose?" over "**** this, I'm 3betting J4o" and disregarding the situation out of frustration.

I find that focusing on what others are doing, and how I might play a hand if I had one, keeps me grounded, and I only end up tilting when I've stopped analyzing what is in my control, and start thinking about the things that aren't.

this is tough sometimes. Like the last time I played live was definately envious of the other reg I know. I played 7 hours and didn't make a hand on a good table (lower stakes) the entire time. Biggest hand was 1 pair !. Other reg I know sits down near the end of my session and flops a nut flush and a set of 88 within 30 minutes of sitting down. Its hard for me not to be somewhat effected by this. Damn I'm unlucky

Open up more tables lol. It helps sooth the pain of J-3o when you're getting aces on the other 1

Funny you should bring this up Chicago. Look up psychology thread, "patience in poker".
I always prided myself on good bankroll mgmt and good tilt control and yesterday that went all out the window.
I was at a venue where I don't frequently play because the games are usually a lot looser than what I like them to be. You'd get 8 callers to a 15 buck raise at a 1/2 table. The game was insane.
So, being the nit that I am, I naturally folded JTo in middle position to an early raise. Of course, almost everyone else called. The flop came T Q T and before all was said and done, there must have been about 200 in the pot and nobody had a T!
Missing out on that opportunity and being about 100 down and watching everyone play like insanity, I of course went on a massive monkey tilt and started chasing draws, which I never do, and calling down 100 dollar turn bets to hit my gut shot!
I disposed myself of 500 bucks and left wishing everyone good luck like the good sport i am of course.
Whew. Thanks Chicago, got that out of my system!

If the table is very loose and you play tight then look at it this way: while the pots are huge the others are effectively just passing chips to and fro. When you finally get your hands you'll keep the chips because you don't spew.

I believe that if you would went into this pot, the flop would be different. Isn't it how RNG works?

If I won this pot? Yeah, things would have been a lot different.

No. I mean, from what i read, that even every mouse movement is in affect of what flop will be dealt not to mention player's actions like fold, call or raise.
