You learn how to use your resources efficiently, strategize, and such. I'm thoroughly convinced kids should learn the basics of chess at a very young age. I am a degenerate gambler and I have often wondered if I am subconsciously punishing myself because deep down I hate myself. It seems like it fits on many levels. When I have money it is almost a foreign, uncomfortable feeling. I hate being broke and feel much better when I have money, but it seems as though I subconsciously am uncomfortable when I am doing well or something along those lines. I dont pretend to understand it but I do know that I have some serious issues that likely will never be worked out. Its just how it is.

This is completely untrue. Most losing degen gamblers lose because they lack emotional control. They allow themsleves to become emotionally involved and hence chase losses, etc. They become addicted to the 'thrill of winning' and the despair of losing the two go hand in hand. This is based in chemical reactions in the brain. They feed off the adrenalin, and the endorphins that are released.

For most they are seeking an escape from present reality, if they know this consciously or not. In much the same way a hardcore drug addict seeks escape from reality.

One time recently, just yesterday in fact, I played with a total degen from years ago. I noticed him sobbing in the bathroom presumably over losses in a mid stakes game I was playing with. He worked at the cage. And I told one of his coworkers that you have to do something, because he was dead money and was in way over his head. He was an addict. I also think he's kinda stupid. Played with him yesterday, still at it, still an idiot, still has the disease, and it's like ten years later.

When I started this thread, my intention was to get people to voice there opinions on weather they agree or not with the standard simplistic theory that addicted, losing gamblers lose on purpose out of some self hate.

I am an unbelievably massive degenerate. I could tell you stories you wouldnt even believe. I have lost all my money at least 150 times in my life. The next time I get some money Im going right back to the casino for some more self torture. Its insane madness. In a desperate attempt to gamble on something, anthing, while in elemtary school, I tried to take 25 cents from a classmate by flipping a book and calling the right side it would land on. We didnt have any coins so we flipped a book in class while the teacher was giving a lesson about geography.

I will buy in for 2 grand at the tables in the casinos. Within 20 minutes Ill be down 1k. Its a virtual guarantee I will chase it with every last penny I can get my hands on.

I had 180 dollars in my account a couple days ago. I deposited 176 into an online sportsbook/casino. Lost it playing blackjack in about 10 minites. Was ahead 80 dollars at one point but kept going. COuld not stop.

I have 4 dollars left in my account but only because I cant figure out a way to wager it.

Something I have noticed that may be of value here. I have no idea why but on nights that I lose everything and go to sleep I wake up incredibly well rested and feel like I got great sleep. This is coming from someone who frequently wrestles insomnia throughout his life.

The feeling I get when I have money and am winning at the casino is almost as good as sex. The euphoria is indescribable. I also really like looking around at all the girls who work there and fantasizing about them. Im an attractive guy and I live this delusional reality where I think they are intrigued by me and want me to **** them. In reality they probably find me a repulsive loser. Or maybe not. Who really knows.

Im trying to be honest and give input here that people could perhaps find as useful insight. Im an absolutely textbook case degenerate on scales that you wouldnt even begin to understand. If I had any money right now Id throw it on a tennis match because thats all we can bet on at the moment. I dont even like tennis.
