Creating an alternate personality to play poker? Creating an alternate personality to play poker?

A lot of professional athletes and high performers use an alternate personality to get their **** done.

You can find more info on this here:

What I struggle with most as a poker player is playing online and getting my volume in.
I'm looking for some recommendations on well-known poker players who grind online like crazy.

These need to be people I can research, so I can figure out what they do and how to do it.

The goal for me would then be to "become" the person I've chosen and copy what they do when I want to get in my online volume!

Suggestions? Thoughts?

If the extra money from playing more poker (and all the fun that comes with it) isn't enough to motivate you to play, why do you think having a poker hero is going to be the difference?

After all, there are a ton of twitch streams where guys put in lots of hours. If motivation is what you're seeking, you're never going to achieve anything except temporarily in short bursts.

I could, probably a horrible idea.

Also nothing to do with the question I asked.
I didn't ask how to get more volume in.

I'm asking who I could use as an example to do something that a lot of highly successful people are doing.

Dabbling with alter egos is fun until the psychodrama manifests. After coming to the dreadful realization that your alter is actually a demon merging with your consciousness you will only then begin to see the error of your ways.

You don't even need to do it. What you need is xx,xxx hours of practice to achieve mastery. Why don't you do that instead.

Again, great info, but not what I'm asking for.

Take an honest inventory of what you spend your time doing. Take an honest inventory of your current volume levels. Set an ideal volume target and incrementally play a little bit more every day (or week, or whatever) until you hit your target. After a few increments you should have figured out what the best intervals are for you. From there make a plan based on the data you just accumulated and give yourself and end date to achieve your volume goal consistently.

If necessary, do less of the non-poker things that eat up your time in order to achieve your volume goals.

So you struggle with volume the most, but that's not your question?

Exactly.
It was an (unimportant) example of my reasons for being interested in creating an alternate personality.

Calling it an alternate personality sounds weird and maybe wrong. You should really watch the video if it sounds weird to you.

I'm looking for examples out there who are grinding their assess off and getting the results.
People who I can look up, study, learn from.

I already gave you the answer, or at least something to try. But instead of doing it you're back ITT looking for some magic words or something.

Seriously man is your brain working right? I want this but I don't want that but it wouldn't matter anyway because I'm not getting any help, people are just giving me good practical suggestions on the basis of having read lots of different productivity material.

Instead of just doing it you should pick up a copy of Thelema and all the transpersonal psychology material you can find, and spend a few years pouring over that material so you can create an alter to do what you obviously need to do. That is my new advice to you since you're obviously not in the business of accepting advice.

Why would I accept advice I didn't ask for from someone I don't know? lol?

You obviously have some serious issues, getting mad at random internet people for asking questions you don't like ...
Trying to give them advice they didn't ask for and then ranting on when they don't care about something they didn't ask for! I'm actually laughing right now ...

Not to evoke an argument but merely stating a fact:

This is an internet forum full of people with "not their real names/personas"

When you posted here, by definition you have already implicitly agreed to ask and accept advice from someone you don't know

Not really though.

I've agreed that I could use some advice, not that I would accept just any, especially if it's not about the subject I've asked for advice on.

I use this forum to bounce my thoughts and ideas off other poker players. I do read (listen) to what people say (type) but I'm not blindly accepting advice, that would be foolish.

How much of what people say I accept, also really depends on the way they're saying it.
If you tell me I MUST or SHOULD do something, my basic attitude is to instantly disagree.
If on the other hand, you make suggestions as to what I could be doing instead, I'd be way more open to that.

The more certain someone is of themselves the less inclined I am to listen to them.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunnin...3Kruger_effect

This is also the reason why I try to make suggestions or tell people how I would do something.
Because I have a very high degree of uncertainty about my skill level.

My goal in starting this thread was:
1) Find out what others think about creating an "alternate personality" to assist in creating greater achievements.
2) Find out who's already doing what I want to be doing (grinding and studying like a maniac) so I can learn from them.

You overthink it man.

People are giving you advice, but you dont listen.

Find your own way then.

Good luck. Everybody is unique...

why don't you start by "grinding and studying like a maniac" since that's what the people you want to be like are apparently already doing

^ you misunderstand what he means. It's not like you're leaving your body during those times. It's still you. I think it's mainly a way for some people to compartmentalize their lives somewhat.
