Controlling a physical tell Controlling a physical tell

I'm not going to give too much free information here, just in case, but I have a physical tell. It doesn't come up frequently, and when it does, it makes it possible for a good player to make the right decision if they are paying attention.

I thought it was gone, but it reared up again recently, and people have noticed. Ironically the villain in both situations didn't notice, or if they did, they didn't interpret it correctly, because they still did what I wanted them to. Other players at the table noticed it and went so far as to comment about it out loud, which sucks. I need to stop doing this, and I don't know how. I know I'm not giving a lot to go on, but I would really helpful to me to hear about anyone else that has recognized a tell they have, and how they stopped doing it.

Try and be a little more specific, so we can help you better. You can get a hoodie, and maybe keep your chin resting on your hand (thus covering your mouth for twitches etc.) sunglasses although lame, do help.

I don't understand why can't you prevent giving out a tell if you are already aware of it, unless it's hands shaking which 99% of the time means AA.

Honestly, I think the easiest way of limiting the usefulness of a physical tell, if you're conscious of what it is, is to do it all the time instead of trying to suppress it. That way, anyone who caught onto the tell previously, will make the wrong the decision more often than when your tell was an actual tell, and others will not be able to correlate the tell to your hand since you do it all the time.

This lol and it happens to me and it's funny because non-thinking players interpret it as a bluff. I read somewhere that the more you play the more likely it is that it will stop, it's just to do with inexperience.

I used to have a physical tell where I would shuffle my cards over and under each other with one hand when I was waiting to fold when it came around to me. A friend pointed it out and ever since then I do it on purpose randomly during hands I plan to raise or call. If you can't overcome your tell for now, you can at least dilute its affects.

Make a video of yourself playing poker in a game. Then study your body language.

And then do this:

I'm going to try doing it all the time. I can still tell the difference between when I'm doing it on purpose than when I do it unconsciously, but I think that only the most astute player would be able to figure out when I'm faking it and when its organic.

If your tell is 'adrenaline based' like trembling or shaking, good luck fakeing that.
If you really want help with this you can start by losing this weird paranoia you are exibiting and say what's your tell...
Or don't heh, whatever.

prob have to be more specific for more useful help. I could be way off but it feels like u r talking about glancing at your chips when a card(s) come off. If it is a micro thing u r doing as a reaction to cards coming off u could kill 2 birds w/ one stone and look at the players and not flop, etc.. to lose your tell and pick up on their's
