I like very much to play poker but I have a serious problem on one of the most important things of the game, the study, I can't study, everyday I wake up motivated and telling to myself that I will study a lot when I come home after my job, but the problem is everyday I am entering on a cycle, When I wake up I planned to study at least 3 hours a day, but then at night when I will start studying I can't focus for a long time, I procastinate a lot, part of this procrastinating is daydreaming, dreaming about all poker and life goals been reached and enjoying them, and them this takes some hours and then when I finally start studying is already too late night and study only for 30-60 minutes max and even when I'm studying I lose the focus sometimes, does anyone have some tips to fix this problem?

find an amount that you can do consistently do every day ; even if it is just 30 minutes; if you are not fully engaged in the process then you are just wasting time

once you master a routine like 30-40 min a day; you can slowly start to add to it but honestly studying around an hr a day is a lot more than a lot players do so that's fine

I think you just set the bar too high; you don't need to burn yourself out to make incredible progress

Studying as you have observed is contingent on concentration. And concentration is contingent on: energy and effort/effortlessness.

Concerning energy

Why not try studying in the morning? From personal experience, learning is much easier in the morning when the mind is fresh from rest. This requires a habitual change.

Concerning Effort

Also, in order to make studying of poker less of an effort consider how you can enjoy the process of studying it.

When you do what you enjoy, effort comes naturally.

When I am fresh and motivated, I can do a lot of study for days. I get more or less stuck after that. If I continue, it is slower or/and takes more effort. Being more disciplined? Needs the outer or/and inner power of motivation to overcome the competing powers against it.

One understands the time aspect and one sees that one needs time off also. The optimal time usage is to be fresh and work hard, then take time off for resting or doing something else and possibly put the same hard work in there also, using the brain differently.

During the mornings, one might be fresher, or after a day of physical work, one might be fresher. It might not help enough if one is stuck and needs time off for rest or doing something else. If one is fresh enough and isn't putting in the work then there are psychological/motivational problems one needs to deal with.

smoking really helps, it's harmful in some ways, but in others, it does help you stay a lot more concentrated and focused, as long as you have your 'fix'
