We need to talk about the rake. We need to talk about the rake.

Why make tournaments and SNG unbeatable? Does it not appear extremely greedy to be far and beyond the industry standard?

Turbo HUSNG: 7% fee.

Avg % Beaten: 53.4% (running horrific lol bad)
Total ROI: -.2%

Good luck with that.

I only play MTT and SNG, with SNG's being my main game (6 & 9 player)

Avg % Beaten: 59.2%
Total ROI: 54.5%

SNGs are still very beatable at that rake

How do you figure?

HUSNG Turbo

10.00 + .70 fee

54% winrate for having some healthy games, 53% is world leaderboard territory for turbos on Pokerstars

100 x -10.7 = -1070 buyins
54 x +20.00= 1080 winnings

$10 profit / 1070 invested = .9% ROI

8-10 hrs of play for $10 profit on a $1000 starting roll.

8+ hours. 10 dollars. If you're lucky.

Because of the rake.

If it's 7% on Global, what's it like elsewhere? Haven't played on Bovada/Ignition in years and can't play on Stars or any other US site.

Sharkscope top 5. If anybody is aware of a single player winning 54%+ of turbo husng, please point them out. And that would be breakeven on this site.

I will say that I played some ring games and was happy to see an occasional splash pot which is nice.

There should definitely be a rewards system or rake races etc
06-06-2022 , 07:20 PM
Yea ok agreed the games aren't beatable.

A large percentage of Global Poker's main schedule tournament fees are reinvested in tournament overlay.

Since March this year, that percentage has been approximately 100% (on average, with some weekly variation), and that is by choice.

Good luck at the tables.

(SNGs are a different thing, and we are thinking about how we can make these more attractive and interesting for players. Rake is one component).

Will you ask them to please consider different speed heads up sit and goes instead of all super turbos as I said in the improvement thread a 5 minute to 10 minute blind level would be alot better.

GP rakeback:
1- splash the pot with 5 bb
2- free daily small SC giveaway (sometimes boosted)
3. almost free SC 5k gtd weekly bonanza tournament (plus more smaller ones daily)
4. mail in envelopes to receive SC to participate in sweepstakes promotions
5. ......

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think doing all of this comes out to 2-3% rakeback max. Better than nothing, but hardly impactful at all.

Actually I guess it's pretty significant for low stakes or low raking players. Seems like the daily bonus alone could come out to 20% RB or something. The more you rake, the lower the % it comes out to. Hadn't considered it before thanks for mentioning it.

I will correct you because you are wrong. If you do #4, you can make more than rakeback at any site, as long as you are willing to do a little work. The percentage will depend on what stakes you play, but essentially they give you a lot of money if you are just willing to ask for it (in the correct way). For those who aren't willing to do this, that is fine, but you can't complain that they don't offer it. Compare this to sites I've played on where I didn't have a rakeback deal because I didn't know one existed when I signed up. There was no way to go back and get such a deal. You, on the other hand, can ask them for free sweeps coins at any time, even if you haven't done it yet.

Interesting had no idea. Thanks. Will look into #4 more closely.

Just be aware that there is a pretty big time lag - so you might mail in requests and not get credit for another 6 weeks or more.

I read about bans stemming from the SC mail-ins. It seems that was just specifically guys that were MASS-mailing these things in though right? Like hundreds of letters per month lool. Do you think there's any risk for a significantly winning player to mail in 10 letters per month? Don't want to push my luck for a small amount, but if it's risk free I'll take that easy money haha.

I hijacked the thread I guess, but I think we were done here anyways. Hopefully a few people reading will also learn about the sweeps mail-ins. Huge value for low stakes guys. Pretty cool even w the 6 week delay.

It has nothing to do with the number you send in. David Lyons has categorically stated on here that NOBODY has or will be banned for the number they mail in. There is always something else that people do to get banned. I have no idea what - but the last person basically got SC credits, then immediately played that amount in blackjack and then withdrew it all. I don't know if that is against the terms, but it probably goes against the spirit of the terms. But I do know that if you sent in 100 a week and simply played poker, you will not have a problem.

Thanks for the info.

That would be great, because the same games can be played on Ignition for 50% less rake. Regardless of rewards that is HUGE.
