Re: rakeback please

The rake is already coming back in the overlays & freerolls. I currently have a 46% ROI in the soft tournaments. Don't change a thing, except maybe adjust the rake for short-handed play

Sorry, I was including my SNG stats in there also. My ROI in MTTs only is 97%. To be able to deposit $20 & run it up to $1200+ in only a couple of months is terrific

If you don't tweak things, stuff doesn't improve. Twiddling your thumbs in the face of discontentment doesn't solve anything. If you don't try, you don't know. They could alternate, for all I care (1 month rakeback, next same as now).

Instead of play "x hands" to qualify for luckbox tournament, I'd like a hand requirement for rakeback. I don't care how many hands it takes. No matter how much time I have, I don't have time for boring luck box tournaments.

Lol.

Imagine the outrage...they switch to rakeback, and the people that enjoy the tourneys and freerolls would be pissed. And then they switch back, and have all the people that prefer rakeback to be pissed.

Of course! And I'm not suggesting they can't, or shouldn't, try different things. But rather than roll out a site-wide rakeback plan that they may retract a short time later, I think they'd be smarter to try out different promotions, especially ones geared to recreational players. Anyone up for a "win with 72o" bonus?

I think you're making a big assumption here - that there's a problem to solve. Even among regular players on 2+2, who should be your target market for RB, there's far from universal agreement on RB. They're never going to make everyone happy.

The top site for US traffic right now is Bodog. No rakeback, anonymous tables, 4 table limit - everything most people on 2+2 didn't like. When they went to anonymous tables, the forums were outraged. Yet look where they are now.

I'm not saying Global should go that route, or even that rakeback is a complete non-starter. But it's not something that they should just try unless they have a lot of confidence that it would be a net benefit for the site. And of course this is making the assumption that it's even feasible for them to do in the first place.

72o game, or Open Faced Pineapple, any of that sounds good to me.

Re: rakeback please

I like what Bobo is saying about rewards for recs. If a site did that it would be awesome, if they found a way to do it. You really wouldn't need rakeback if recs were getting more money to play with somehow. All the rewards go to the crazy gamblers type of thing would be pretty sick, I have no clue how'd they do it tho.

...Not for nothing, but aren't the gold coins tournaments that have a $250 guaranteed prize pool, and an 0.11 buyin that usually totals to like $30 worth of buyins a pretty decent rewards system for recs? Those tournaments always have an absurd overlay.

Re: rakeback please

"Even when you lose, you win!" promo - every time you lose at showdown, you receive some kind of points toward something. Swag, merchandise, special freeroll...

"72o" promo - have different hands that are eligible for prizes or points like above when you win with them. One day or week it's one hand, another day or week, it's another one. Rinse and repeat. Or you have a list/grid of different hands, and you're rewarded as you hit certain numbers of them, with a bigger payoff if you get them all.

"Aces cracked" promo - for a short time period, reward when your AA doesn't hold up.

New/unique games promo - offer incentives to try different games that don't get played as much. This one requires enough site liquidity to be a good idea. You don't want to spread a player base too thin.

Table starting bonuses - this one's for the regs more than the recs. You don't want recs getting destroyed HU or more short-handed than they'd like - what you want is players starting more tables.

The ability to target promos is important. Some you can target just by what kind of promo it is - I don't know if there are any that would totally exclude regs organically, but if they are more appealing to recs, at least they'll get more than their "fair share" of the benefits, which is what you want. Some of them you could send specifically to recs, making the promo exclusive to those who were offered them. If you went this route, you'd want to have the occasional one to offer to regs as well, perhaps ones that will still help with a better poker ecosystem, like the one for unique games or table starting.

All of this requires either robust poker software that can support automating these promos, or a lot of behind the scenes customer service work. So it's much easier for me/us to throw out these ideas than they would be to implement. It's possible that Global is interested in running unique promos, but just isn't there yet in terms of implementation. It wouldn't be easy.

Just a few thoughts, and I'm not sure that any of them are unique. I likely got most (all?) of these from different promos I've seen sites run over the last 10+ years.

I've played on Bovada, a lot, and I've gambled on sports, a lot. Sports betting is huge. If you're already on the site and like it, then may as well play there. One of the main things recs like, and so do I, is the ability to play hands that don't involve third party software.

And, if you want to play a lot of hands, you play Zone poker. The biggest downside to bodog/bovada is no rakeback. If there is anything to convince some of those players to go elsewhere, it's that.

Recs don't need huge tournament prizes. They don't need to play a pro amount of volume to qualify for "x." Open up Cafrino, and you'd probably see hundreds of people playing for a tournament with a prize pool of 20 cents. Seriously. It always blows my mind. And that software is beyond bad.

I like this site, minus the constant disconnects during busy times. I would just like some rakeback option, even if only a few people could actually unlock/earn (I'd actually prefer). The cash game player base, at least, has stagnated. I'm not sold on this either or thing (rakeback = zero tournaments).

What exactly is the current rake structure on Global Poker? I haven't seen it detailed anywhere in this thread or elsewhere.

Points

I don't want rakeback either, but what about an enhanced points program? I know there's some hint of this with the GC freerolls, but something like Bodog/Bovada/Ignition has would be nice. Cash in for tourney tickets, gear, books, whatever, etc.

Re: rakeback please

i just dont want good regs joining the games lol, and less rake for short handed, cause high rake for short handed just kills action and the site makes less money. (there is a reason other sites dont do this)

GLOBAL REWARDS PLZ FFS RAKEBACK OR PRIZES

I pay so much god damn rake on this site (20k+ per month )
can we please for the love of christ get SOMETHING in return for being super high rake payers? like if I patronized any other business to the amount of 20k a month they would be sending me all kinds of promotions.. this is TOO SICK. The rake is already RIDICULOUS without rakeback its just so tough. Please please please please add some sort of reward system for high volume rake payers for the love of god.

You can the $30/month mail in sweepstakes bonus, but if you're getting raked for $20k/month it's trivial of course.
