New SNG blind structure... WTF Global? New SNG blind structure... WTF Global?

10-13-2017 , 03:47 AM
First post here, but been lurking for a bit. Played online a lot pre-Black Friday, stopped for years because I never wanted to use a proxy server or take too much of a risk with shady overseas sites, then all of a sudden U.S. poker's back with Global. Great. I'm picking up where I left off years ago, moving up stakes. I prefer Sit and Go, that suits my style of play best. The micro stakes are tough to beat but I build a bankroll enough to get to play $6-10 SNGs on the reg and just when I really think I'm back in the swing of things they pull this?

The new blind structure is just idiotic. The average player has less than 8 big blinds left after 30 minutes. After 50 minutes, 1/25th of all chips minimum are in play every single hand. They add on these "hyper-turbo" games like it's frigging video poker. Completely unbeatable with skill. Who is this for? If you want to build a brand you need to value your regulars. Removing advantage play from poker just turns it into gambling, and that only feeds the misconception that lead to poker being illegal in the U.S. in the first place. For a site that's already so precariously walking the line between legal loophole and outright scam, this is a pretty stupid move.

Also sorry if someone already vented about this on another thread, I couldn't find it.

No, they're not. In fact, all of the stakes are quite easy to beat, including the new 110s. The SnGs here are far softer than the ones on Stars in, say 2009, at all levels.

The old blind structure was cool, but this one is even better. The non-turbos went to 8 min blind levels, 15/30 to 30/60 to 60/120 with 1500 chips. That is 24 minutes of play with the starting stacks being significantly above push/fold territory. This is enough. You sit, and you spin.

you beat SnGs by being good at folding

The structures are a bit faster than what you will see on other sites, but they aren't unbeatable.

My only issue, which I've posted about before, is the fact that the rake is the same % for Turbos vs Regular Speeds SNGs. Just take the Turbos down 1-2% in rake and it would make more sense.

Also, now that there are a lot more sngs in the lobby, having some filters to only show certain buyins/structures would be very useful.

I agree with Matt. With all the new SNG's I would like to see some sort of filter. Right now the SNG lobby is very cluttered

I agree. Watching a $0.50 9-man "standard" SNG right now with 9/9 players all with ~12 BB stacks. Why add super-turbos and simultaneously truncate the blind levels in standard SNGs?

I noticed the payout structures change for 6max sng last night. Anyone else notice this? Sorry if this was posted somewhere else.

I love the new structure. At least for the reg speeds. Been playing them a lot after not touching them previously and doing quite well.

Now they've simply gotten rid of the micro stakes standard 9-mans

Ya but they left them at higher levels. I'm very unhappy with the recent sng changes all around, to the structures, and about the games that have been added and removed. It's the same as the gap in the cash games they used to have, to make it harder(impossible) for players to move up the non existent levels so more likely to depo. Then they change the things up to make the games significantly less profitable and way higher variance (bigger roll required for same games), nice..

This is starting too look a lot like Amayastars but even faster. How far can they push their player pool and main traffic seems to be their business model. Rake recycling.

The way they advertised the changes to the stts was somewhat insulting too, "listened to the player pool and raised starting stacks to increase play." Failed to mention they drastically changed the blind structure and shortened levels to make them play faster than the old structure. Maybe they were confused so I will clear it up for them, the changes made to the non turbo sngs and now removing some of then entirely was not what anybody was asking for. Rake is still too high also.

This isn't related to the original topic but is SnG related feedback nonetheless.

I don't play a ton of SnGs but I played the new "Wade [Turbo]" 18 man the other night and assumed it would be 2 tables of 9, but it is 3 tables of 6. This actually suits me since I'm primarily a 6m cash player but it is still misleading and the tourney should labeled "6-max" somewhere.

Yeah that for sure needs to be labeled.
