Firstly, let me say that I hope this thread is allowed, but if not for whatever reason, I guess feel free to remove it.

I decided to make an interesting thread while waiting for my other actually important threads to be responded to...

Basically, I wanted to create a thread to just name people on the site who are just straight up POS. The thread title is pretty self-explanatory, as the most likely reason for seeing some of the things I've seen said from some players on this site has to be underlying problems with them. Twice in the past week, for example, two separate players have instructed me to consume my own feces. I barely type in the chat box in the site, and it is extremely rare for me to start a convo or say something to someone first, so I have no idea why I've been seeing some of the things said to me. Quite frankly, they are just sick.

Now, the point of this thread is obviously not to make fun of people with mental illness, and if either of the two players I am about to name have it, I'm sorry and I hope you receive the help you clearly need...

That being said, the point of this thread is to warn others about players who are just toxic, so that they can, if they so choose, preemptively mute them, ostracize them, berate them, etc., in order to eventually condition them to learn from their actions. My hypothesis is that these types of people are the types of people that, for example, beat their wives and have severe road rage, and if we can take steps to cut down on that type of behavior to allow them to assimilate into society, that would be great. I was very kind to these players in game, even after they acted preposterously, as I'm not a fan of being derogatory towards others.

With that out of the way, the first two people I'd like to name are:

I'm friends with Japper irl and believe it or not he's a great guy. He's a single dad of 2 wonderful girls. Their mother had substance abuse issues and is no longer in the picture. He donates his time at a local soup kitchen twice a week. I can't defend his chat as it is terrible but understand he has some demons in his past and he uses online poker as a way to blow off steam. If you experienced 10% of what he has in his life you'd likely be going off in chat 24/7 as well.

JK, I don't actually know him and he has some of the worst chat I've ever seen lol.

If you don't like or can't handle what a player says, simply mute them.

When i experience 'poker chat abuse' I usually respond by telling the abuser to keep their composure. And i'll maybe post a sentence or two about how keeping your composure is one of the hardest things to master in poker. So far it's worked 100% of the time.

If they've said anything racial i'll usually post "I understand you're upset and have lost your composure, but i respectfully ask that you don't use racial slurs. Otherwise go off on me all you want."

These responses so far are undefeated in calming the abuser/s down.

BTW Keeping your composure is really hard in poker, and poker is IMO one of the greatest teaching tools to keeping your composure in life.

Personally I accepted Japper's sexual advances in chat and that didn't get me anywhere.

jared can't give ilofty and japper a spanking so he has to post their names on 2+2. He is starting a dictatorship of poker chat on global poker. You all remember he is the owner of the chat and unless you act like jared does cause he is a supreme being who acts perfectly at all times a complete angel his entire life. He has never gotten mad or lost his temper ever in poker. So he is entitled to tell people how to act in a chat. He has gone up the 7 steps of enlightement and the next buddha. ilofty and japper you both need a time out and a spanking. You are warned Jared has his paddle out ready to go.

Anybody who has issues tilting in chat NEEDS to do what I did

- get Global (or whatever other site) to ban their own chat, and

- mute the other players and/or size your tables so you can't see their chat

It's helped me immeasurably. Watching people chat stupid **** was something of a trigger for me and I bet it is for some other players too.

Have to admit, i'm a firm believer in that it's bad etiquette to post other players names on a forum for anything that's gone on between the post'er and said player/s.

An overall post on chat abuse would've been sufficient IMO.

I love Global Poker and also all the users who frequent this forum.

Definitely quite the personalities on both. Feel like it’s impossible to tilt when I’m laughing once an hour from global chat and the trolls on there

Does getting global to ban my own chat prevent me from seeing other people's chat notifications?

No, you either have to individually ban people's chat or resize your tables so you don't see the chat box.

I don't necessarily disagree (we're all adults), but chat banning/muting helped ME as an individual, even if it doesn't help the overall game of poker, so I STRONGLY recommend it to anybody who tilts and especially people with legitimate mental illness issues like myself.

I am not sure whether this kind of thread should be allowed or not but personally I don't like it.

If you have a problem with a players chat please report them if they are breaking the rules or mute them if they are not.

As I have made clear in other areas I am generally opposed to Salem Witch Trials

More importantly, please update us on the other issues I've raised in other threads, like the glitches and the nonsensical messages I've been getting from customer support regarding my missing satellite tickets.

Also, where are the rules regarding player chat and how can I report people? I genuinely do not know.

fwiw the names listed do have pretty outrageous outbursts.. I personally find it kinda funny and don't really get bothered by it..

I want a global tickbox where I can mute all other player chat as a universal option. Y'know. Like every other major poker site?

Manually muting these toxic idiots doesn't keep them permanently muted. They become unmuted after like 24 hours.
