Loser, Loser, Loser.... No more?? Loser, Loser, Loser.... No more??

Hi, guys:

I know I’m new to the forum, but have eyed from a distance for a long time.(I know) Years of losing on random sites here in the U.S., and issues with tilt control have kept me a loser in the live realm as well. Finally had enough! Months ago I took a hard look at myself and if Poker was right for me. Decided to dedicate time/effort/money to my game via dropping in stakes/Training sites/and meditation to help my crazy lunatic mind.

Just hit 10k hands on GP and have went from 10nl to now playing 50nl! OBVIOUSLYthis is an extremely small sample, and I’ve ran well, BUT there have been a multitude of hands were I’ve redirected my previous thinking into a more productive well rounded thought process. Also, have had plenty of bad beats that in the past would have sent me to the 100nl tables chasing losses hahaha. Now I stay and grind!

Just a positive message out to the community that improvement is possible with dedication and hard work. Can’t wait to see where it leads me from here hopefully to the fn Mirage and not busting after I tilted after I downswing!

Gl all!

On handling tilt and general anxieties/frustrations in life, read and study "The Art Of War". Then give it.

Good with luck controlling your emotions.

Thank you! Just ordered it

If you are beating 50nl I would recommend also playing mtts if you aren't already. Games are soft and most cash regs are fundamentally better than mtt regs imo. Also tilting is for ****ing losers so stop (if you want to win). Its ok to get annoyed/upset during a downswing but never move up, chase losses,or open up ranges to win x back.

Rare to see a positive success story here, I like it! Yeah if you're playing low stakes hop in some tournaments that's the softest realm on global IMO. Good luck

I’ve dabbled in mtt’s, but will def put in more of an effort moving forward. Just need to study more! Thanks for the support though guys. Tilting is def for losers as I’ve tilted and lost for years! Ha. It just feels good to finally be able to control most of my emotions, and to be on the track to thinking through a hand the correct way.

A long way to go, but I’m committed.

Nice stuff man, that's awesome. Update us on any more nice binks

3rd this morning in the lunch money hyper, and lost heads up last night in the 6max 250gtd.

Still looking for my first win, but my cash rate is absurdly high so far. Variance is on my side for now. These small stakes tournaments seem to be the way to go! So, thanks for the advice to switch from cash.

Still need to improve so much, though. Really confused in some late stage spots when everyone is short. Shove/call/fold??? IDK!

6th in the 10$ 1250gtd

Sounds like you are very consistently winning

Vimukti, congrats on your newfound success. Always exciting to find your way!

So nice to read a thread where trolls have not taken it over yet. No shaming, bashing or arguing. Just a nice start to a success story. But someone will come along and ruin it. IsThisLegal flew close by saying "tilting is for ****ing losers" but the rest of his message was encouraging.
I predict that within 4 days someone will come in with 7 posts under their belt and start talkin chit.

"the mental game of poker" will do more for you than the art of war. the art of war is a great book and can be applied to all areas of life, but "the mental game of poker" is specifically dedicated to helping you learn about your emotions, why they happen, and how to manage them in the game of poker. its one of those books that needs to be reread because it is packed full of so much good information that you need to read it several times before you can absorb all of it.

I’ll def give that book a try too. No recent final tables, but a few small cashes. Starting upswings mtt module today to hopefully help me understand tournament dynamics more.

Learning more and studying everyday. I’ve been putting more sessions in the last few days on training sites rather than the tables.

The more I learn, the more I realize how vast and complex this game we all love to play is.

Debating on taking a shot at the wsopc stop this weekend in Tunica. Can pull out some “liferoll” money for the 400$ buy ins; as my poker bankroll is obviously not suited for 400$ tournaments

I believe the experience could be beneficial.

And thanks for the kind words everyone! I’ll try my best to keep everyone updated on my journey as long as someone continues to follow along!

I finally checked out The Mental Game of Poker a few weeks ago because I kept hearing people talk about it. I seem to be alone in this but I found it a bit absurd and laughably unhelpful in its belaboring of the obvious.

Do you have an opinion on where someone can find a better resource for improving their mentality when playing poker?

You were wrong about the "within 4 days" part, but I agree at some point some nattering nabob of negativism will join the discussion.

Me? No, I do not. I only tried TMGOP in desperation because I'm spending a loooooot of money on keyboards and mice lately.

It sounds like it helps a lot of people though. It just does not help me.

Yes, my question was intended for you. I tend not to quote posts when I'm the very next post below. It takes up unnecessary scroll time IMO.

Thanks for your answer. I thought that you may have a better resource given your critique of the book.

Hopefully you buy your keyboards and other external devices in bulk. LOL

Back on the micro/low stakes tournament grind today. Played in a 400$ live circuit event and slightly above min cashed. Was 105/1211 in event #2 unlimited re-entry on one bullet. Wow live is slowwww! haha

Hopefully coming back to the virtual felt today better than ever after putting in solid studying time in the last 2 weeks
