I dont believe that it is the natives leaving, it is the wealthy mainlanders that travel from the mainland to Hawaii then while still on vaction go to Vegas.
The natives of Hawaii have been working in a tourist state for many years and while the state is beautiful it doesnt reflect on to the native community's income unfortunately.
So with that being said most native hawaiians are indigent.
