How do you handle the excessive limpers? How do you handle the excessive limpers?

10-18-2017 , 05:19 PM
So Global of course is like swimming in the sea of fish which is great, but how do you guys go about dealing with the excessive limpers. Do you just open raise like you would in a normal poker game where you have maybe one or two fish at the most?

Do you just limp along with them?

And also the fact there is very little fold equity in these games, do you open tighter?

I feel like playing a regular brand of poker on this site is probably not optimal. Would love some tips on adjusting to playing on Global.

Thanks!

If they limp then I just tell them to take the little blue pill

Try the fake 52x or 102x min raise on them. They want to see a flop, this way they see a flop and many times they will fold to a standard flop bet not knowing what the pot size even is.

Those who think this is a total joke - some players did this non stop in the O8 NL games on Stars - raising from $0.25 to 25.50 (it visually looks similar to a min raise) and then seeing people fold to $1 bets on flops. One guy posted dozens of these types of hands vs habitual limpers here (can't seem to find the thread but it was pretty funny).

If nothing else, its kind of fun to do!

Move up to where they respect your raises

Isolate like crazy IP and cbet less often when you miss til you get reads on how frequently they call postflop. Sometimes I limp along if I have a hand that plays great multiway with a high SPR (i.e. 22, Kxs, and maybe a leak but I limp **** like 78o also because people are just SO BAD) but I generally only do this on the button (or CO if BU is tight and/or passive).

As you can see, you probably won't get good advice here. None of these players want you to know how to play because that will hurt their win rate. I'd recommend building a close group of poker friends to discuss this with.

Ha yea I see that. Kind of funny in a way, it's a poker strategy website where people don't want to talk about strategy. Really this topic I think is fine because the people who we are talking about (the limpers) aren't visiting poker strategy sites. If they were, then they wouldn't be open limping lol. So basically we aren't competing against each other, we are competing against them. I think when there are fish at a table there is respect amongst regs and if one open raises and the other doesn't have sufficient pre flop hand strength they usually get out of the way. The fish are the source of income, not the regs.

Actually brings up something interesting I saw yesterday. A guy in NL10 was beradding someone for his terrible play, as the reg was beating him. I was thinking he should shut up, because the fish is like his customer paying him. Fish are essential for the poker Eco system and to put them down is not smart.

Pretty much this. You're typically not going to get the best strategy advice in the main site forums/threads.

The reg berating the fish is likely mediocre at best even for those stakes. A simple "don't tap the glass @(Reg's Name)" is typically all you should try to say. If he has any sense at all he will know what you are saying.

I try to not commit a bunch of chips preflop/on the flop. It's easier to push people off hands on later streets. I've noticed people call way to loose flop/pre and fold to tight on turn/river, even when given proper odds to call. Try keeping pots small and be more aggressive turn and river. I play tourneys and Sit N Go's mainly. I love how soft the games are.

FYP.

If you really want to talk strategy, I'd suggest starting here:
