As a publicly traded corporation, you'd figure they'd have a little transparency to the players, when it comes to issues that affect the trustworthiness of a site's operations. ESPECIALLY a company that chooses to use loopholes to circumvent US gaming laws.
To your point, yes, other large poker sites have refunded players. Party Poker refunded $735k in 2019 and closed hundreds of accounts. Pokerstars has multiple times over the years refunded players for exposure to cheating/botting/etc. Even one of the shadiest poker sites on the internet ACR has issued refunds for botting/cheating/collusion rings.
If these "adjustments" were due to cheating, you'd figure they'd be standing on the rooftops proclaiming as much. Why they are making us speculate as to the reasons they choose to give us a tiny bit of rakeback, is beyond me.
