There's a difference between light banter and unwelcome abuse, of course. But I doubt many people who trash talk have a good appreciation of the difference. And even if they do, they have no idea how their message is being received - what is banter to one person will come across as nasty to another.

Right, and that's the problem. When playing live, you can see how your message is being received, both by the target, and by others at the table, and modify if needed so you aren't chasing away all the recs.

Yeah after seeing the chat myself, I don't love it, but its not the worst I have seen either. I saw we just mute guys like him and move on.

I am speaking more to Tiz. I actually don't mute anyone's chat unless it just continues to fill the screen so I can't catch up on what others are saying. I find its helpful to know what people are saying it chat more often than not.

But disagree its a police matter. Death threats (despite what you might think) are not necessarily illegal. I am sure you can get restraining orders in some circumstances, but I have a hunch if you took internet chat from a poker game online, the cops would just look at you and say "And?"

Now if the guy actually posted your address (not IP, but real address) and other details, I would think more seriously about getting the police involved.

Raw has made similar threats to me and other table mates. I am unsure if I should report him too. On one hand, he is great for the game because he creates action and isn’t good. On the other hand, his abrasive and toxic chat has the potential to run off recs.

fwiw, I think both smallbull and raw lost their chat privileges. Both have lost a ton of pots recently that would have triggered angry chat in the past but they were both completely silent.

Global, will you do anything about chat abuse here?

Maybe I grew up in a dodgy neighborhood but nothing (apart from the already blocked swearwords - and the lack of a capital G at the start of 'God') seems too bad to me here.

If anyone is seriously complaining about this I will ask the team to look into this but I feel that if this is the level of chat we are calling harassment we will be better off having no chat at all.
