Global pulls out of WA - Clarification Global pulls out of WA - Clarification

Today I received this email from Global:

______________________________________
URGENT ACCOUNT INFORMATION

As you may be aware, on Thursday 29 March 2018, the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that, under Washington State law, some free-to-play games violate state gambling regulations.

Global Poker is committed to operating within the laws of all States in the US.

Because of this we regretfully inform you that we will not be accepting Gold Coin purchases from Washington State players until further notice. This announcement only affects purchases, it does not affect our sweepstakes cash prize redemptions.

We have reviewed this case extensively. There is currently an appeal underway and, as a result, the ruling may be overturned. As soon as this occurs we look forward to welcoming back our Washington players. We will contact you as soon as there are further developments.

Washington is home to the best football team (The Seahawks), the best Coffee (Starbucks) and the best Billionaire (Bill Gates). We look forward to bringing the best Poker site back there real soon!

Regards,
Global Poker Team

I was wondering if Joey could clarify for me what the bolded part means. Am I correct in interpreting this to mean I can continue cashing out, and can still participate in Sweeps cash games/tournaments indefinitely, it's just that I can no longer deposit fresh funds? And if this is true, will it remain true if, say, the appeal they mention goes nowhere?

Also, can somebody else tell me why my state is full of such *****-ass bitches?

Thanks.

dammmm bruh wtf, I lived in WA my whole life until a few months ago, WA has always been a political nightmare they need to split the state in two
06-04-2018 , 11:19 PM
I forget where but I read a few years ago that there was a vote in WA in the mid-80's that would've allowed slot machines, etc, in any bar in WA, which barely failed by something like 52/48. Later it comes out that the proponents campaigning for the bill were vastly outspent by tribal interests something like $5m to <$1m. Fast forward ~20 years later, tribal and local gaming is still going strong, and we're the first state to outright ban online poker.

Weird how that works. Nightmare is being generous.

Hi SageLee,

The only change we have made in order to comply with this ruling is to remove the ability for people currently in WA to purchase our Gold Coins.

Hope that clears things up.

As for your other question - I can't answer that, unfortunately.

Joey:

I know your trying to help and I'm not trying to make your life harder, but please stop dancing around simple questions. Simply tell us yes or no will they still be able to cash out?

He answered the question. He's a company rep, and there's only so much the company can say on a public forum.

His answer was, "Yes." You can cash out. The question he didn't answer was why are the Washington politicos such muckety mucks?

Ok fair enough, but if he can't directly say "Yes you can cash out" I know I would be uneasy If I were from WA. Like I said I'm not trying to be a prick and make this guys life harder and give him ****. Just a lot of stuff with this site that gives you reason to worry.

So, Washingtonians can cash out, it seems.

I also would've preferred a more explicit answer but in context I feel satisfied he did answer. "Gold coin purchases" should really only refer to what we think of as depositing. I just wanted to clarify that "purchases" as stated in the original email didn't extend to buyins.

As far as cashing out, I actually cashed out the $750 that I had planned for next Wednesday immediately upon reading the email. Everything seemed to work fine. So far my weekly cashouts have been fast and hassle-free; just received one in the bank two days ago and I didn't really think they'd suddenly try to jack my funds because of this. I was actually more concerned about being able to continue to play. Cause **** gettin that job that I went to all that schoolin for.

Glad you got your monies.

LOL @the Seahawks statement.

Seriously hope WA clears this up and allows players to purchase coins. This sounds like some BS.

Obviously the various tribes are major contributors to Washington politicians, therefore those politicians will continue to do things that benefit the tribes. Its called politics & Money talks.

Is there any other state facing similar problem? I am in TX. If yes, i will keep more money on site incase downswing hit and I cannot deposit and play.

Yes. Obviously.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to clarify that; I thought the sarcasm in my "weird how that works" comment was pretty obvious also. I guess what I really meant by that was "gross how that works", but I did not mean to imply that I didn't understand how it works.

Personally I am unware of other states in the same situation but I don't think anyone saw it coming with WA either.

I can't speak for the leagaluspoker site, but the write up seems to be a pretty good summary of what happened in WA. It links to the geekwire article as well, which I can speak for, its a decent site.

Its always possible the same thing could happen in other states if there laws left the same legal squishy language that WA did.

No other state facing this kind of complete nonsense that I'm aware of. No idea wtf is wrong with WA, I know Pokerstars cut off WA residents ability to play their play money games as well as a result of this. But hey, at least you can legally chill some 420 even though you can't enjoy a play money poker game. LOL

Click a mouse, lose your little green monopoly house. GG WA.

Lol, had to laugh at that. Pacific northwest, everything is legal. Well, except the evil poker. Politicians are just useless, neuter them all.

I lived in a town in WA named after a former indian war chief, and oddly enough there were no Native Americans anywhere in our town.... Yet, they were able to dictate how my family earned money ( my Grandpa owned a casino in town) and there were so many ****ing rules that he had to obide by on top of the already ridiculous amount the goverment taxes small casinos, for example he wasnt allowed to have slot machines, roulette, and various other games, only the Indian casino who treated customers like **** 45 minutes away could do that. WA has always been the worst state in America has far as online gaming goes
06-05-2018 , 10:37 PM
You can suck your boyfriends dick in the middle of pike place while smoking a blunt and living off welfare but you cant play online poker because... well there is no ****ing reason
06-05-2018 , 10:39 PM
All that being said, I hope no one gets the wrong impression of WA as a whole, Seattle does not reflect the entire state, and the state of WA might be the most beautiful place in the world as far as nature and activity.
06-06-2018 , 01:38 PM
As a WA resident.. my entire life...

not surprised.

Don't give a F tho

We need to serve all politicians an anarchist salad, a.k.a. "Let us alone!"
