Props to Global for coming up with unique ideas, and putting new MTTs on the schedule, but I'm not sure if there are even 3 MTT players who are interested in taking the prize.

I must be one of those 3 players then. Not a huge fan of Ohio, but would love the opportunity to see an MLB allstar game

Is it actually that nice? If I won I would try and sell the prize and I'm a big baseball fan. It's also during the WSOPME and the middle of the week so people will have work or many wouldn't be able to accept anyway.

Someone in their marketing department probably just had some free tickets. It's a really ****ty prize. I'd want a carnival toy more.

If you think I was complaining, I think you're seeing what you want to see instead of what's there. Constructive criticism isn't complaining. I said props to them, but I felt that the prize missed the mark a little bit, as it was going to cost them a decent amount out of pocket (2-3k in ticket costs, plus a ton in hotel costs) and likely isn't drawing that many more people to play on the site. But obviously, it's a step in the right direction and I'm sure everyone appreciates them thinking outside of the box and offering tangible rewards. Imo that's what sets the site apart from other sites, they seem like they are trying to connect to the community.

Also, the language is pretty clear about the tickets being in the winner's name only. I'm nearly positive there's no way to sell them even if you wanted to. If your goal is to win the tickets and try to sell them, please don't be that guy. Let someone who wants to go, go.

Having to go out of pocket to pay for airfare makes it less attractive, at least to me.

World where:
1) The package includes no travel allowance
2) It's to go to a city when hotels will be packed
3) It's to go to Cleveland
4) There's nothing poker related about it

No travel allowance is killer. Why not some prize package to go to WSOP? Makes no sense. W/e.

1. lol
2. 3 night hotel is included
3. lol
4. so?

Maybe you missed the memo but Global Poker is a social gaming site and casual social poker players would much rather have a chance to go to an all star game than a random wsop tournament.

If you can't afford the couple hundred to fly out then sell the package, pretty simple.

Hotel is included. Not sure where you are getting 2-3k for airfare when you can roundtrip from anywhere in the US to Cleveland on spirit airlines for 2 people for only a couple hundred bucks. Not sure where you are getting the non-transferable thing from either as there is nothing in the T&C's about it being non-transferable. They had no problem allowing the cruise packages to be transferred.

You are misunderstanding what I wrote. Those amounts were what it's costing Global to pay for all of the tickets and hotel rooms.

Maybe we're reading the T&C's differently, but where it says

Quote:
6.6. You agree and acknowledge that if you win a Grand Slam Package:

you must either use the Grand Slam Package in full or forfeit the Grand Slam Package completely without compensation.
that implies, to me, that it cannot be transfered or sold. Since your options are use it in full or forfeit it.

Also the next rule says that you forfeit any additional packages you win beyond the first. That rule wouldn't make sense if you were permitted to transfer or sell them.

Also this rule

Quote:
6.10. By participating in any Grand Slam Tournament or Grand Slam Ring Game you:

agree that the person whose name appears on the Customer Account that wins an Grand Slam Package must use the Grand Slam Package, together with any guest as permitted by these Grand Slam Promotion Terms and Conditions.
is pretty clear about the person whose name is on the account being the person who has to use the package.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that everyone playing poker on a poker site is interested in poker/Las Vegas/Atlantic City/gambling. Not everyone playing on the site cares about the All Star game. As I've said I'm a baseball fan but I don't remember the last time I even watched the ASG was and it's slightly above the pro bowl to me.

I have a few hundred to fly out just I'm mainly interested in poker and I doubt I could find anyone who wants to go? If I had a job there is no way I would take time off for this just way to minus EV but if it was to play in a poker tournament it's definitely worth it.

I wouldn't be happy to take tickets to see my favorite team in another city...again would have trouble finding someone to come and is not worth to go alone.

How **** does a prize have to be for you guys to be annoyed? Trip to the 1812 Museum in Plattsburgh? Guided tour through a trail near GP's office?

I pay insane amounts of rake every month and really don't expect anything in return but come on.....

You're right I did misunderstand what you were saying about ticket and hotel costs. As for being transferable I remember it having all that same T&C's for the cruise then they still let it be transferred but maybe this one is different and it will be enforced like that this time.

You not caring about the prize doesn't make it a **** prize lol. Global is a social gaming site and these are the prizes social gamers care about. You are not the target audience by a long shot so anything you want is irrelevant.

How do you know that's what "social gamers" want??? They aren't necessarily idiots.

I play on the site...I'm a baseball fan...I'm in the white male 28-34 demographic...I like poker...how am I not the target audience? Cause I'm not some braindead fish excited over the crumbs I get tossed?

The fact that you are on 2+2 complaining about free prizes and how much rake you pay.

You think 3 nights in a hotel + tickets for 2 people to attend 4 events at the all star game is crumbs.

If you have to pay for travel and spend money while you're there and miss work it's definitely not free. I don't think it's crumbs I think it's a **** prize. I live 20 minutes from Yankee Stadium and I barely want to go to games.

100% would prefer Amazon gift card or carnival toy bear. Can give the toy to a chick at least. Honestly I think free t-shirt or some other kind of merch giveaway would be better even though it would be cheaper for GP.

You're right, Social Gamers (tm) love taking time off work and buying plane tickets to go to baseball events, because all Social Gamers (tm) love baseball, have $500 spare for plane tix, and basically have unlimited vacation time they can take whenever.

Thank you oh wizard of Social Gaming for showing us the light.

This package would be fine if it included airfare imo -- winning the "privilege" to buy yourself 2 roundtrip plane tickets to Cleveland is a joke. Ahh, sorry, guess I'm not a Social Gamer (tm) so I have no right to comment on promotions of a poker site I give my business to. Next time I'll pm you for permission first.

I'm kind of on your side, except minus the weird anger you seem to have, and I think that a big baseball fan that's been to over 200 games lifetime not wanting to go to the ASG only having to pay for travel is odd. Also him thinking that a "real adult" being a single man with no kids is also a strange take.
06-23-2019 , 06:19 PM
Wow, the last 20 posts or so of this thread are...bizarre. Are people actually finding an argument about whether tickets to a baseball all-star game are a good prize important enough for name calling and bothering friends so they can post an additional opinion to back up their own? News Flash: Different people like different things. Global will try this, and if it works, that's great, and if it doesn't, they can try something different.

It's just general frustration at the general state of online poker and annoying stuff global has done in the past year.

Newsflash: you can be a "real adult" without being married or having kids. We are both >30. Some 16 year old who dropped out of high school, knocked a girl up, and was forced to get married to her by her daddy with a shotgun is not an "adult".

It won't work and they won't try anything different.

This may come as a shock to you but some people have a deeper relationship to poker than a forum and would like to see the site grow for reasons besides advertising revenue for 2p2.
