What's lowest stake without rake taking too much?

I don't know why people complain about the rake, and say with Globals rake the games are unbeatable. In low stakes if you and another player are all in and the pot is 10 bucks, even if the rake was $2, you are still winning that players $3. In bigger stakes if you and 2 other players make it to showdown and the pot is $300 then if you win, you are winning the other 2 players $100 each. If the rake was even $50 out of that pot you are still winning $150 (plus your money back) for a total of $250 out of a $300 pot. How is that unbeatable?

Global pokers rake is 5% across all limits. I believe this is the industry standard. So, it shouldn't matter if u play micro, mid, or high stakes.

I believe most online poker site's rake is also 5%, but they usually offer some sort of rake back deal, which is why people say the rake is too high on global.

However, global has many freerolls and promos that makeup for the lack of a rake back deal and that's why I will continue to play there.

This isn't actually true, and Elizabeth's question is a very good one. The base rake is 5% across all stakes - however there is also a cap on the rake. In a .10 game, if you get all in for 100BB against one player, the pot of $20 will have a rake of 5%, or $1.00. To reach the cap of $1.50 (for 5 or more players) you need a pot of $30, and those are rare at that stake. The vast majority of pots are much lower than that, so the effective rake for almost all of your play at .05/.10 is 5%.

At the high end, 10/20 the rake is 5% but with a cap of 4SC. So once a pot exceeds 10BB (200SC) the rake is capped at 4SC. So if two players are all-in for 100BB - you have a pot of 200BB = 4,000SC - and a rake of only 4SC. You don't have to be a math whiz to know that this is a LOT less than 5%. Giving up 4SC on a 4000SC pot really is insignificant; giving up 1 on a pot of 20 is a lot. If you have put in half - you are putting in 10 to win 9, which is 10% less than if there were no rake (I'm not saying there should be no rake - just illustrating).

I don't know the perfect answer about where you have to play to limit the cost of rake - and it is definitely true that the play is tougher as you move up, which could be more important than the rake. But at .25/.50 a 200BB pot (100SC will have a max rake of 3SC - so this will be much less than the 5% rake.

5% seems to be the going rate everywhere except Chico network. Chico charges more for some reason.
