Hand from the $20 2K final table last night, villian is Hhella Tight. I got greedy and went for the value on the river vs a player I know is gonna icm own my soul here a lot. Stupid stupid stupid.

sometimes I wish I was capable of folding there. good play. Do you think he had A7?

You gotta fold. There's no way he has worse for value and has no bluffs. Sucks but good fold.

Edit: Just realized you said hes hella tight but also gonna apply a lot of ICM pressure. Well which is it lol

LOL his username is Hhella Tight but he definitely doesn't play tight!

Once he checked back on that flop instead of cbetting I could only really give him a trap, AK, JJ or a 7x not wanting to get blasted out and on the river jam I'm only beating a very creative AK play.

I've been seeing a ton of new faces in the MTTs. With 18 left in the Throttle last night I only recognized one person and I'm pretty damn chatty on the tables and good at remembering people and tagging/note taking. Pretty awesome if you ask me!

Yeah, I'm not as observant but seems like there have been more new names lately.

I probably would have check called river to draw the bluff. I woulda called pretty much any bet though after encouraging the bluff.

I was streaming at the time and as soon as I bet I said man that was bad we should have check called cause he can own me now and then he owned me. He told me the next day he had 87s so I probably misplayed my way into saving some chips.

Nobody has mentioned a shove pre vs hhella tight's opening range? I kinda like that option myself.

it was on the stone bubble and the player to my left had 7 big blinds and I had 23 big blinds so I wasn't too keen on getting it in pre if Hhella did happen to have a hand he could call with. I could've 3bet him preflop I guess but I really didn't wanna build a pot oop on the stone bubble with a lag player in postion against me.

I just wish I would have check called river instead of going for value. I would have lost either way but I think check call river is better overall.

Understandable if we're talking about pay jumps that are bigger than what would be in a 2k. I like shoving 20bb's in pre vs a lag player, in that scenario. Not necessarily saying calling is a bad play - as played, I like check calling the river as you mentioned.

Scratch that - just realized you said on the bubble. Yea, call pre and check call river. I thought we were already in the money.

I'm $3k into losing streak. Fun times.

Sun run finally coming to an end? :P

Well, yeah, or that. When your deep in the well confidence is nil. Its easier to convince me I have just been on a 10 year heater. Or I've developed bad habits, or, or etc. It's easier than it used to be, mostly cause I have job now and don't really need the money to live. The swings are far less than they used to be also. Still drags me down though, makes me not want to play.

Ouch, sorry to hear it dude. I get that same way when running bad. Am I actually a good player or did I just sun run key spots over the last 2k mtts?

As an outsider whos played with you plenty, you definitely play well enough to be a winner so it must just be variance messing with you. Keep your head up and you'll be back to crushing us donkeys again in no time.

Thanks man. I know all that, and I know big picture the swing doesn't mean anything. Unfortunately we don't get to live in the big picture, we have to live it hand by hand, day by day. That's what makes poker tough.

$40, so it isn't the worst downswing I've had. Hell, I failed to cash in 89 in a row once.

Lacky i am just giving you grief. You are a great player. $3k DS at $40 ABI sucks but it's definitely standard. Chin up, study a bit and keep grinding.

Yeah, no worries, I took it as the joke it was intended. I won the 10k a few nights ago so well on my way to climbing out of it.

89 in a row without cashing is brutal but in terms of buy-ins I’m sure you’re aware this is pretty standard. I’m working my way out of a downswing myself which at its trough was 100 buy ins. I’ve been running particularly bad in the 109s and 55 rebuys and if I back those out I’m close to my peak earnings in the year. Just need to scoop one of these GOAT events and we’ll break outta these downswings!

I just looked at sharkscope for the first time in a while and of course they missed the win. That's 2 cashes for $6k missed this year. It's hard to use the leaderboard for motivation when it keeps missing my bigger cashes.
