I was a pro during the halicyon days many years ago. With the advent of solvers, the ubiquity of RIO and other comparable training resources, the shriveling of both rakeback and rec player pools, I found it wise to move on. GP has made me completely reverse my position on this.
Night and noon, play at SNGs, MTTs, and PLO is what I will generously refer to as, "pre-2008 quality." This is unbelievable. If anyone knows a site where a 'Merican can, during any TOD, sit at $20-$100 games and be the sole thinking player at a full table, please respond to this thread.
For all of you that think GP sucks because of it's various failings (very difficult to multitable, HUD disallowed, HH analysis all but impossible and the list goes on) please keep in mind that even a mediocre player in today's poker climate (take it from me!) can earn a living wage here. I just wanted to inject my perspective here; I would say this more than makes up for all of GP's admittedly extensive shortcomings.
Thanks Global Poker, I wouldn't change a thing (even if I want to change like, a million things, I suspect it is precisely those things that make you great).
Totally agree. I played on pokerstars on its BIRTH, and it was juicy...then it stopped, mostly because players are using their computers to play for them.
THANK YOU for understanding that pure poker is mano-a-mano.
ALSO, after great trouble withdrawing, as a Canadian, it was sorted out through the hard work of their admins and is working perfectly. I DO WISH paypal was in there, as there are wire fee transfers, but I am VERY HAPPY with global. Great action, great vision.
