Re: Charged with massive deposit fees

I got charged approx $30 for a 1k deposit as well, at the very least there should be some sort of disclaimer before depositing explaining that some banks charge fees.

Lol They go away from paypal and give no warning of this. The people that defend global no matter what need to be checked as employees that work for them. It is insane what global is doing to you guys lol.

Re: Charged with massive deposit fees

Very lame going to have to apply for a travel rewards card to avoid this fee. The fact that WP is apparently based in Akron made me think there would not be foreign fees. Still better than Ignition though.

Thanks
Joey, have you gotten an update on the fees being charged for deposits?

There are no fees charged by Global Poker for players making purchases or cashouts.

From what I can see in this thread, it appears some banks do xharge fees whilst others don't. Not my place to give banking advice but if it were me this would certainly be a factor when choosing my bank.

How about lower the rake, fix your software, improve customer support/communications to offset the fees that will surely drive away recreational players

Foreign transaction fees are commonplace with credit cards in the US. Really something the decision makers should have been aware of before making this partnership with WP.

I assume there's no chance of paypal being restored (which is clearly the best case scenario for your customers if it could be, sadly). Is there a way to structure the purchases so they are domestic instead of foreign? Either through WP, or partnering with a US processor?

Adding my +1 to the idea of PayPal coming back. Not holding my breath, but still would love to see it.

Get a credit card with no foreign transaction fees, problem solved.

Awfully strange for an American legal and approved site to process payments offshore. Defeats entire purpose...

Realistically, Fee's charged indirectly by GP because of the loss of PayPal. Why are player's deposits showing as a foreign transaction and not US based is the question....

If they get charged a foreign transaction fee because of the PayPal ordeal, GP should be taking the hit not the customers.

If this is happening a lot, you're going to see many FB rec players say goodbye.

Re: Charged with massive deposit fees

Dang those fees suck. I think as a one time exception it would be nice to see GP step up and covers some of that fee for you or offer you a ticket into one of their higher entry games. If GP doesn't already they need some sort of disclaimer stating that a users CC may charge fees for the transaction at purchase time.

But over-all It's not GP responsibility to know what charges YOUR credit card is going to charge you for the transactions you do. So to expect them to cover these fees is a little unreasonable. They are not responsible regardless of what processor they used in the past and are not indirectly or directly responsible for such fees.

I doubt it. There aren't too many services people pay for with regularity that they'd cancel over a 3% cost increase, especially when it should be reasonably easy to find a no fee card.

Re: Charged with massive deposit fees

It is common for there to be international transaction fees charged separately after the original transaction posts. The freeze will vary depending on the card issuing bank.

It's been like this for years for any international purchases.

So I think they knew it would be better for U.S. players if the transactions were domestic based, but need to operate within the OFC.

I guess they are giving bonuses to select players, but giving a purchase bonus to all players to cover some of these fees would be nice.

NVM I see in another thread they are emailing offers to select customers, so there won't be any mention of this by Global in a public domain.

Their marketing team continues to suck.

Re: Charged with massive deposit fees

I got an offer of S$120 for $100 GC purchase. I declined.

Now on their sister company Chumba, I got S$100 for $1 gold coin purchase. That I bit on. Triggered a call from fraud department. And yes I was hit $0.03 for the international fee.

Re: Charged with massive deposit fees

I was looking into this. So what is happening is your money is being converted into another fiat currency and actually global and its processor is responsible for this. If you look on the global poker page it says you can buy sweeps cash with USD.It doesn't say anywhere you have to buy it with another currency. So basically what I think is happening is world pay is located in china and they have to convert the usd into yuan. Then you guys are getting hit with foreign transaction fee. So whos responsible? Well its global poker because it clearly shows you can buy sweeps cash with usd. It doesn't say anywhere the money has to be converted. ONce that conversion starts then you will be hit with a fee. Its not the bank or credit card charging you fees to do a transaction. Whats happening is the USD is being turned into another currency and then to turn a any currency into another currency there is always going to be a fee for that. Thats global poker and their processor problem. Now if they stated on global poker that there is a conversion fee and your not really buying sweeps cash with usd but with yuan thats different. But they don't state that. So they are responsible for those fees anytime that conversion happens. They just don't want to pay but they are actually responsible for it.

I have done this ACR and they refund me back for it. And its a company in china that converts the usd into another currency. they understand they are responsible for the conversion because it doesn't state anywhere that they have to convert the money. They are trying to say its bank problem. Its their problem because they have to convert your usd into another currency to give you sweeps cash. It says we can buy sweeps cash with usd so if they have to convert the money to another currency thats their issue with their processor not ours. I see some people don't have a fee. So sometimes they aren't converting it to USD is my guess. Maybe they fixed it now I am not sure. Has anyone been hit with fees lately?

And this the company i am guessing they are using. https://www.worldpay.com/global/abou...xpertise/china and this is in china like i expected. So they are converting your usd to yuan if your being charged a fee. (World Pay)-Visa and MasterCard, on the other hand, only account for 3% of e-Commerce card payments. This should be stated on global poker website this foreign transaction fee. Of course they don't want to post this cause people wont do deposits. But then they aren't responsible for the fee. But if they don't post it they should credit players back for the fee. What I don't understand is how they pay back players without a fee if its the same processor. But are charging a fee to do a deposit. It doesn't make any sense. My guess is world pay is then hit with foreign transaction fees to send the money back us.
