Ok I talked to paypal its basically because the transfer was listed as a goods/services and they said that it will always be on hold for at least 7 business days because of this. However they said if the sender would list it as a friends/family transfer it would be made immediately available to me is everyone here waiting 7 business days for there payment to clear like mine or is this a mistake on globals end?

This is pretty standard but I think your paypal account status plays an impact too. I did not have a hold on mine, at least not that I'm aware of, but my paypal account is over 15 years old with a lot of transactions, to the point where I'm probably flagged about as low risk as possible to roll on a buyer.

The hold on goods/services is to provide time for the buyer to dispute receipt of an item etc so a seller can't make off with the money and disappear, probably a common problem in their industry. So when global sends your payout via the purchasing goods/services method paypal's computers will apply these purchasers rules to it.

This transfer method is also the reason we as players are getting hit with the paypal transaction fee on our cash outs. If they sent it via transfer to friends and family like paypal suggested to you that would also eliminate those fees. I've reached out to support on this point, they were supposed to be working on some mass pay thing that would eliminate the paypal fees for their users.. not sure why they can't just make the cash out transfer via the friends and family method right now though.

It is a fairly new paypal account however I am verified and all of the things they asked me to do with bankaccount/credit card and anything else they required so just sucks they still hold this for this long. Hopefully global can start sending these as a family/friend transaction instead of a business/goods one.

I'd think the reason they don't use the family/friends option because...they aren't your family or friends.

If Paypal lets anyone use family/friends option for any transaction you like, then they'd be closing their doors pretty quickly - how would they make any money?

Not picking on anyone in this thread, as I've seen it suggested in many other threads as well. If Global is looking to send money via Paypal without fees being charged, I'd expect it would have to be through an arrangement with Paypal where Global is paying them something directly. Pretty sure Paypal isn't going to just allow them to run through thousands of transactions for free.

It's commonplace to use family and friends with people who aren't your family or friend per say, paypal really has no way to police that. They aren't doing background checks on you and the volume of transactions they do would prohibit that level of scrutiny. They still make plenty of money on other fees, and of course tons of merchants take paypal for products and services, ebay sales, etc etc.

That being said, I think you have a good point about this situation, if someone were sending thousands of transactions via this method that would probably raise a flag or at least not be flying below the radar of what's reasonable for them to be looking at.

At any rate, Kimber explained it to me and it made sense... I hope I'm not overstepping by sharing here but I don't think this is sensitive info. The reason they don't use family and friends is their paypal account is Australian and if they send to US accounts via that method there is a fee associated with that conversion and they as the sender have to pay it. It's in their TOS that the player will absorb any fees associated with cashing out. They are working on a mass pay solution that their sister site chumba casino uses now, and there are no fees to the player for that. It's apparently also easier on their side to execute the cash outs as it becomes just a couple clicks to add the player to the list. It's a win-win. She wasn't sure how long it would take for this to be rolled out.

I'm guessing it would be a priority if it's better for their players and their staff, but with the growth they've had and the various system bugs they've had to get sorted (which are urgent priorities obv) it's been kept from the top of the list by circumstance.

Yes, absolutely. I'm sure many, many people use the F&F when they "shouldn't be", and as you say, Paypal can't police and probably doesn't care as overall it likely drives more business.

Right. I think what you outlined above is fine, but when one particular business is using F&F to avoid paying them any fees, I don't think that would fly.
